Home Credit PH’s CIO is redefining leadership in the tech industry by driving innovation, challenging norms, and paving the way for the next generation of women in IT

Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), the country’s leading consumer finance company, continues to reshape the financial landscape through cutting-edge technology—making credit more accessible to millions of Filipinos. At the forefront of this digital transformation is Susan Ong, HCPH’s Chief Information Officer (CIO), whose strategic leadership has been instrumental in strengthening the company’s market presence.
Recognized for her pioneering contributions, Ong was recently named one of Southeast Asia’s Top CIOs at the prestigious 2024 CIO100 Awards. The honor reflects her role in elevating Home Credit’s IT infrastructure and adopting advanced technologies that drive both reliability and operational excellence.
A Leader in Innovation
With more than five years as CIO and a rich background in IT, Ong has played a crucial role in developing one of the region’s most robust digital frameworks. Under her leadership, Home Credit has implemented innovations that ensure seamless and secure financial services for Filipino customers.
The CIO100 Awards – ASEAN edition celebrates visionary technology leaders and teams driving innovation and transformation across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong. Ong received the award at a ceremony held at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, attended by over 400 C-level executives.
“This award is a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of the Home Credit IT team,” Ong said. “At HCPH, we constantly explore world-class technologies to create meaningful impact. It’s an honor to be recognized by our peers in the tech industry.”
Breaking Barriers in Tech
Ong’s recognition also highlights her influence as a woman leading in a traditionally male-dominated field. She believes that cultivating the next generation of women leaders is not just a moral goal but a business imperative. With a customer base primarily composed of women, Ong champions diverse leadership, which she believes leads to more innovative, well-rounded decisions.

“My advice to women in tech? Stand your ground, know your expertise, but always remain open to learning. Respect follows when you balance confidence with humility,” she shared.
At Home Credit, Ong mentors both women and men, helping them grow into confident IT professionals and leaders. “I coach and challenge our team to raise the bar. Seeing our talents step into larger roles has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my leadership.”
A Journey Fueled by Passion
Ong’s passion for tech began unexpectedly—with the movie WarGames sparking her fascination with computers. That curiosity led her to pursue a Computer Science degree, paving the way for a career built on innovation, strategic thinking, and resilience.
Early in her career, she often found herself as the only woman in the room. Instead of being daunted, she focused on excellence and consistency. Her biggest challenge as a tech leader has been balancing short-term business demands with long-term innovation, a balance she has successfully maintained at Home Credit.
She emphasizes the value of collaboration and open-mindedness. “Different perspectives aren’t roadblocks—they’re opportunities to build better solutions. What matters is keeping the company’s goals front and center.”
Shaping the Future of Consumer Finance
As she looks to the future, Ong remains committed to accelerating HCPH’s tech evolution. “Technology never stands still—and neither do we. Our mission is to integrate world-class solutions that deliver accessible, reliable financial services. We’re not just keeping up with change—we’re driving it.”
Backed by her visionary leadership and a high-performing team, Home Credit continues to set the standard for tech-driven consumer finance in the Philippines and beyond.
