FEATURING TAIWANESE ICONS SUNSET ROLLERCOASTER
AHEAD OF FORTHCOMING EP ‘ONE DAY IN THE SUN’ DUE OUT MARCH 20TH

English indie-pop four-piece PREP return with a fresh, genre-blurring single, “Do What You Gotta”, featuring Taiwanese modern jazz-pop sensations Sunset Rollercoaster. The track is a warm, funk-infused floorfiller celebrating new beginnings and the pursuit of love wherever it may appear. Smooth, understated, and emotionally grounded, the collaboration brings together two bands whose shared sensibilities transcend borders and genres, creating a sound that feels both timeless and contemporary.
The release marks the lead single from PREP’s upcoming EP, ‘One Day in the Sun’, set for March 20th. Available on vinyl with pre-orders now open via the band’s official merch store, the EP highlights PREP’s deep connection to Southeast Asian audiences—a region where their blend of indie pop, soul, and retro influences resonates strongly. Partnering with Sunset Rollercoaster, one of Taiwan’s most influential contemporary bands, further cements PREP’s ongoing engagement with Asian music scenes and shared artistic visions.
Behind the Collaboration
Speaking on the project, PREP’s vocalist Tom shared:
“This Sunset Rollercoaster collaboration has been a long time coming. We nearly finished a song with them in London a couple of years ago; then Kuo performed with us in Taipei last year, and we spent a long night in their studio exchanging ideas. When we had this song for the EP, we knew it was the one. We can’t wait to play it live together on stage.”
Bandmate Llywelyn added:
“Sunset Rollercoaster are perhaps the one other band in the world closest to us. They’re part of a scene in Taiwan, Japan, and Korea that doesn’t really exist in the same way in Europe. Much of it is inspired by City Pop—the ‘80s Japanese pop music we’ve naturally gravitated toward as a band—mixed with ‘70s American influences. This collaboration feels like coming full circle.”
PREP’s Rising Global Momentum
“Do What You Gotta” arrives at a peak moment in PREP’s international growth. The band has surpassed 380 million streams across digital platforms and was recently ranked among the top 25 pop-soul artists globally (Chartmetric). Their sold-out tours across Southeast Asia—including a 2024 run hitting Bangkok, Taipei, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Manila—have cemented the region as a central hub for the band’s expanding fanbase.
PREP’s viral Harry Styles cover, “As It Was”, has amassed over 5.8 billion views and inspired 1.6 million TikTok creations, further highlighting their massive online influence. Their largest audiences are in Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, and Taiwan, with top cities including Bangkok, Jakarta, Quezon City, Taipei, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur, solidifying PREP as one of Southeast Asia’s most beloved indie-pop acts.
Looking Ahead
This latest single showcases PREP’s cross-regional reach, bridging the UK and Asia while reflecting the sonic landscapes where their music thrives. Leading into their forthcoming EP, ‘One Day in the Sun’, fans can expect a fusion of jazz, West Coast soul, 1980s studio polish, Japanese City Pop, and modern indie-pop sensibilities—an unmistakably fresh and globally-minded sound.
