BJ Mercantile, Inc. (BJM), the official distributor of THACO commercial vehicles in the Philippines, has officially turned over the country’s first two THACO sleeper buses to Cagsawa Travel and Tours, Inc., marking a major milestone in premium provincial transport and setting a new benchmark for comfort, style, and convenience on the Manila–Bicol route.

At the key turnover ceremony (from l to r): Don Ramos, Sales Manager, BJ Mercantile, Inc.; Marvy Sales, Sales Representative, BJ Mercantile, Inc.; Leilani Lim Tan, Vice President, BJ Mercantile, Inc.; William Rogando, Director and Operations Manager, Cagsawa Travel and Tours, Inc; Willy Ngo, General Manager, Cagsawa Travel and Tours, Inc.; and Marcelo S. Tan, Corporate Secretary, Cagsawa Travel and Tours, Inc.

At the heart of this launch is the THACO Mobihome, a next-generation luxury sleeper bus designed, manufactured, and assembled by THACO AUTO, Southeast Asia’s largest and most advanced bus manufacturing facility. Built to elevate long-distance travel, the Mobihome redefines passenger comfort while addressing the operational demands of modern bus operators.

“We are proud to partner with Cagsawa Travel and Tours in introducing sleeper bus technology that prioritizes passenger comfort while meeting the operational needs of bus operators,” said Leilani Lim Tan, Vice President of BJM.

Inspired by the vastness of the universe and the flowing lines of nature, the new-generation THACO Mobihome features a sleek, commanding exterior. Its signature front grille, highlighted by beveled patterns inspired by THACO’s iconic “T” motif, is seamlessly paired with modern LED Project headlights, creating a bold and cohesive design from front to rear.

Cagsawa Travel and Tours played a key role in shaping the interior design, ensuring an exceptional passenger experience on every journey. The bus features 20 private sleeper cabins, crafted with premium materials and meticulous attention to detail to maximize comfort and privacy. Each cabin is equipped with an LCD entertainment screen, individual bedroom lighting, Type-A and Type-C charging ports, and access to a well-appointed onboard toilet. UV ceiling lights combined with ambient lighting further enhance the cabin’s refined, hotel-like atmosphere.

For Cagsawa Travel and Tours, the acquisition underscores its commitment to operational excellence and its vision of becoming a benchmark in the Philippine transport industry.

“We should have the best and always strive to be the first in order to be the role model in the industry,” said William Rogando, Director and Operations Manager of Cagsawa Travel and Tours. “We were very impressed when we visited the modern and expansive THACO manufacturing facility in Vietnam. I am confident that once people see these buses on the road, other operators will follow.”

Through its partnership with THACO AUTO, BJ Mercantile, Inc. continues to broaden its portfolio of modern commercial vehicles in the Philippines, offering advanced buses and trucks supported by comprehensive after-sales service, readily available parts, and strong technical expertise. From its beginnings in 1974 as an importer of used engines and trucks, BJM has grown into a diversified group with interests in construction, mining, logistics, real estate, petroleum, cold storage, and marine transport.
