Next-Gen AV Sony Unveils BRAVIA 7 II RGB TV and BRAVIA Theatre Trio

Sony debuts its first True RGB BRAVIA TVs, featuring independently driven RGB LEDs, a new unique anti-glare and reflection screen, and a next-generation theater system all developed with insights from industry experts.

Sony Electronics Inc. is taking its “Cinema is Coming Home” vision to the next level with the introduction of the BRAVIA 7 II, its latest BRAVIA True RGB television, alongside the BRAVIA Theatre Trio, a next-generation home audio system designed to complement large-screen cinematic viewing.

Together, the new TV and home theater system reflect Sony’s continued commitment to faithfully reproducing the creator’s original visual and audio intent, delivering a more complete and immersive cinematic experience in the comfort of home.

The new BRAVIA 7 II is powered by Sony’s proprietary RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro, which precisely controls independently driven red, green, and blue light sources. This technology enables Sony’s new BRAVIA True RGB TV models to achieve the largest color volume in Sony’s home TV history, while delivering accurate color reproduction across wider viewing angles—even in bright living-room environments.

“Sony has been advancing LED control for over 20 years from our first independent RGB light sources in the Qualia 005 [2004] through our flagship Backlight Master Drive premiering in 2016,” said Yoshihiro Ono, Head of Home Entertainment Business Unit, Sony Corporation. “Our new True RGB represents a breakthrough that combines the precision of individually controlled RGB LEDs with the best aspects of both Mini LED and OLED, giving viewers purer Color, higher brightness, and picture accuracy that holds up in any room.”

BRAVIA 7 II Features

BRAVIA 7 II: A new dimension of Color with True RGB
  • First True RGB LED BRAVIA TV: The BRAVIA 7 II uses independently driven red, green, and blue LEDs to deliver precise color reproduction, even in bright living-room environments.
  • Unprecedented Color Volume: Independent RGB LED control achieves the largest color volume in Sony’s home TV history, delivering a wide color gamut, enhanced contrast and depth, and beautiful gradation. Powered by Sony’s RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro, each LED is driven with high precision to improve brightness, reduce blooming, and produce purer colors than conventional Mini LED displays.
  • Wide Viewing Angles: Independent RGB LED driving, combined with X-Wide Angle Pro, ensures vibrant images and consistent colors even when viewed from wider angles.
  • Large Screen for an Immersive Experience: The BRAVIA 7 II is available in screen sizes ranging from 50 to 98 inches, with every size designed for easy installation and integration into the home.
  • Elevated Audio Experience: Full-range speakers deliver powerful sound while enhancing dialogue clarity through Voice Zoom 3™, powered by AI. The TV also features evolved 3D Surround Upscaling, which expands stereo audio into a wider 3D surround experience.
  • Harmonic Presence: The flagship design integrates seamlessly into different spaces, featuring a wave-textured bezel and a transparent center stand² that creates a floating, cable-free appearance. The screen can also function as a design element even when it is not in use.
  • My Cinema: Optimizes picture and sound for a film-first viewing experience.
  • Ambient Optimization: Automatically adjusts picture and audio according to room conditions and the viewer’s position.
  • Studio Calibrated Modes: Includes optimized modes for platforms such as Netflix, Prime Video, and SONY PICTURES CORE, with availability varying by region.
  • Premium Format Support: Supports Dolby Vision®, Dolby Atmos®, DTS®, and IMAX® Enhanced.

The result is a viewing experience designed to preserve the creator-intended color, depth, and detail even under real-world viewing conditions.

BRAVIA Theatre Trio

BRAVIA Theatre Trio: Sony’s flagship model, expands sound far beyond the screen

Complementing the BRAVIA 7 II is the BRAVIA Theatre Trio, a premium wireless home theater system developed specifically for ultra-large screens and designed to bring an authentic cinema experience into the home.

Created in close collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), the BRAVIA Theatre Trio was developed with insights from the sound creators behind film production. Through the partnership, Sony gained a deeper understanding of professional sound design, with SPE sound creators involved from the earliest development stages to help refine the system’s details.

The result is a newly designed three-speaker system featuring optimized front, left, right, and center speakers that create a broad, immersive soundstage while maintaining clear dialogue in a space-efficient setup. Drawing on the expertise of SPE sound creators, the Trio is designed to reproduce the immersive sound crafted for film production directly in the home.

“Sound design is integral to the cinematic experience and often drives the visceral impact of a scene,” said Tony Lamberti, Academy Award–nominated sound mixer. “The spatiality of the BRAVIA Theatre Trio is exceptional; it fully envelops you in sound and delivers a truly immersive, cinematic experience in the home.”

“When we design sound for film, every choice is about guiding what the audience feels in a moment,” said Andrew DeCristofaro, sound designer at SPE. “The BRAVIA Theatre Trio brings that same intention into the home, letting people hear the detail, movement and balance the way we meant it to be experienced.”

Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping (360SSM) technology generates up to 24 phantom speakers, creating a wide cinematic sound field that surrounds listeners from every direction.

Developed with insights from SPE, the technology draws from an in-depth study of professional studio acoustics and the listening environments used in film production. By reproducing both direct sound and the natural reflections characteristic of movie theaters, 360SSM transforms a room into an immersive audio environment using only the existing speaker layout.

The result is a multidimensional sound field that creates the impression of having numerous speakers positioned throughout the room, faithfully reproducing the depth, placement, movement, and nuance intended by filmmakers.

With a newly added high-performance USB Type-C microphone, the BRAVIA Theatre Trio also delivers improved measurement accuracy and effortless, precise room calibration, creating an immersive audio experience tuned specifically to each space.

The BRAVIA Theatre Trio supports Dolby Atmos, DTS, and IMAX Enhanced for compatible content. It can also be expanded with optional subwoofers and rear speakers, including dual-subwoofer configurations, for an even more powerful and expansive home theater setup.

Other Update

Direct Connect allows compatible BRAVIA TVs to connect directly with optional wireless subwoofers and wireless rear speakers without requiring a soundbar.

This enables simpler home theater configurations while adding deeper bass and a more expansive surround experience, complementing the TV’s built-in speaker system.

Sustainability & Accessibility

Sony continues to incorporate sustainability and accessibility into its latest BRAVIA lineup.

The TVs use recycled materials throughout the body, internal components, and remote control, including Sony’s original SORPLAS™ recycled plastic material. The entire True RGB lineup also benefits from the power-efficient RGB LED control enabled by RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro.

Accessibility has also been enhanced through a new inclusive remote control featuring a narration-friendly design and improved tactile clarity, making the TV experience easier to navigate for a wider range of users.
