Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP) and Shell Pilipinas Corporation have officially renewed their eco-alliance under the Tapon to Ipon program.] The continued partnership, which initially launched in 2023, aims to make plastic circularity highly accessible by expanding community post-consumer PET bottle collection and recycling across the country.

Under the framework of this initiative, consumers can drop off their used, clear plastic PET bottles into specialized collection bins positioned at participating Shell Select convenience stores. The process provides a seamless drop-off point for everyday motorists and shoppers to properly segregate their recyclable waste.
The logistics are managed in collaboration with Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies, Inc. (BEST), which handles the collection and transport of the discarded plastic. From there, the gathered bottles are diverted to PETValue Philippines, the nation’s first advanced bottle-to-bottle recycling plant.
As a joint venture between CCEAP and the sustainable chemical manufacturer Indorama Ventures, PETValue Philippines processes the post-consumer plastic and transforms it into food-grade recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET). This high-quality recycled material is then funneled back into production lines to be manufactured into completely new beverage bottles, establishing a closed-loop recycling ecosystem.
“At Coca-Cola, we believe that partnerships play an important role in driving meaningful and lasting impact in the communities we serve. Since 2023, our collaboration with Shell has made it easier for consumers to take part in PET bottle collection and recycling through convenient drop-off points at Shell Select stores. We are grateful to have a long-standing, like-minded partner in advancing the Tapon to Ipon initiative and encouraging greater participation in PET bottle recovery efforts,” said Atty. Marc Cruz Cox, Stakeholder Relations Director of Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP).

The extended agreement designates nearly 30 participating Shell Select stations across Metro Manila and Bacolod City as official PET bottle drop-off hubs.] By expanding the program’s footprint into these key urban areas, the initiative provides everyday consumers with convenient, highly accessible locations to surrender their used clear plastic bottles for recycling.
“Our Shell Select stores are part of the everyday journeys of motorists and customers, giving us an opportunity to make PET bottle collection more convenient. Through our continued partnership with Coca-Cola, customers can drop off their used PET bottles at participating stores for collection and recycling,” said Mike Ramolete, Vice President and General Manager of Shell Mobility Philippines.
CCEAP and Shell Pilipinas’ continued collaboration encourages more Filipinos to take part in recycling, supporting positive change through collective action.
