In celebration of Grandparents’ Day, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, in partnership with S.I.L.Y.A. (Sa Iyo Lola at Lolo, Yantok aming Alay) and the UST Atelier Alumni Association Inc., proudly unveiled the Seated in Sentiment: A Rocking Chair Art Exhibition at the Eastwood Mall Atrium. This one-of-a-kind showcase beautifully blends advocacy, artistry, and community spirit in a heartfelt tribute to our beloved grandparents—celebrating their love, legacy, and lasting influence in our lives.

The launch gathered key champions of the project, including Tito Alcala, Founder of S.I.L.Y.A.; Tinay Villanueva, SAVP and Head of Brand, Creatives, and Marketing at Megaworld Lifestyle Malls; Kux Quiogue, General Manager of Eastwood City; Marissa Pe Yang, President of UST Atelier Alumni Association Inc.; and Raul Isidro, UST Atelier Auditor & VP for Advertising. They were joined by Elaine Antolin, Managing Director of Artistshop Company Inc.; Patrick Naval, PRO of UST Atelier Alumni Association Inc.; and acclaimed artist Fil Delacruz.

At the core of Seated in Sentiment is a striking collection of hand-painted rocking chairs, each one transformed into a meaningful piece of art by distinguished Thomasian artists. More than just visually captivating, these chairs symbolize S.I.L.Y.A.’s mission: to provide seniors with comfort, dignity, and a sense of belonging in shared spaces. Placed within the mall, these rocking chairs invite grandparents to pause and rest while also giving visitors the opportunity to purchase them—directly supporting the advocacy.

S.I.L.Y.A., founded by Tito Lorete Alcala, was born from a simple yet powerful idea: to ensure that senior citizens always have a place to sit, rest, and feel valued. Through its symbol—the rocking chair—S.I.L.Y.A. continues to honor the care, comfort, and respect our grandparents deserve.

The UST Atelier Alumni Association Inc. rallied its pool of talented artists to bring the chairs to life with color, concept, and creativity. Among the participating artists are Fil Delacruz, Flor Baradi, Alice Bernados, Lemuel Blanco, Franklin Caña, Janos Delacruz, Maryrose Gisbert, Patrick Naval, Joey Ofludor, Nestor Perez Ong, Jo Rebustillo, Gean Sollestre, Vanessa Tria, and Melissa Villaseñor. Each chair tells a unique story, blending artistry with advocacy in ways that inspire reflection and admiration.

“This project holds a profound meaning not just for our malls, but for the communities we serve,” said Ms. Kux Quiogue, General Manager of Eastwood City. “By honoring our grandparents through both advocacy and art, Seated in Sentiment reminds us to cherish their legacy, respect their needs, and celebrate the timeless role they play in our lives.”

The Seated in Sentiment Rocking Chair Art Exhibition is now open at the Eastwood Mall Atrium, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the artistry, support a worthy cause, and celebrate the irreplaceable presence of grandparents in our families and communities.

After its Eastwood debut, the rocking chairs will travel across Megaworld Lifestyle Malls—including Uptown Bonifacio, McKinley Hill, Lucky Chinatown, San Lorenzo Place Mall, Southwoods Mall, and Twin Lakes—bringing the advocacy closer to even more families.
