Fueling Dreams How VinFast’s Rentapasada is Empowering Filipino Entrepreneurs

VinFast Philippines and Green GSM are making it easier for more Filipinos to enter the ride-hailing industry through Rentapasada, an innovative drive-to-earn electric vehicle (EV) rental program designed to significantly lower the barriers to becoming a TNVS or ride-hailing driver.

By eliminating the heavy financial burden of vehicle ownership, Rentapasada offers a low-risk micro-enterprise model that enables aspiring drivers to build a sustainable source of income while creating a practical pathway toward eventually owning their own vehicle.

Lowering the Barriers to Starting a Ride-Hailing Business

Launching a ride-hailing or TNVS business in the Philippines has traditionally required a substantial upfront investment to purchase a vehicle. Beyond the initial cost, drivers also have to manage ongoing expenses such as insurance compliance, routine documentation for financing, and standard net-worth requirements—obstacles that can be particularly challenging for first-time entrepreneurs.

At the same time, demand for ride-hailing services continues to grow as commuters seek convenient mobility solutions amid Metro Manila’s persistent traffic congestion. However, fluctuating fuel prices continue to eat into drivers’ earnings, while access to traditional vehicle financing remains out of reach for many aspiring operators.

Rentapasada directly addresses these challenges by allowing participants to begin earning with minimal upfront cash. The remaining security deposit and TNVS registration fees are gradually deducted from their daily earnings, making it easier to start generating income immediately.

By shifting to electric vehicles through VinFast, the program also shields drivers from volatile fuel prices, allowing a significantly larger portion of their earnings to stay in their pockets.

More than simply an EV rental program, Rentapasada is designed to make ride-hailing entrepreneurship more accessible by reducing startup costs, lowering long-term operating expenses, and providing aspiring Filipino drivers with a practical path toward sustainable income and eventual vehicle ownership.

Removing the Capital Barrier for Aspiring Partner Drivers

The entrepreneurial spirit has long been part of Filipino culture, reflected in the countless sari-sari stores and carinderias found across the country.

According to 2023 data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) account for 99.63% of registered business establishments nationwide and generate nearly 67% of total employment.

Despite this strong entrepreneurial culture, relatively few Filipinos venture into ride-hailing businesses because of the substantial capital required. Unlike a small retail business that can begin with modest inventory, operating a TNVS vehicle often requires hundreds of thousands of pesos in down payments and repair-related expenses before drivers can earn their first peso.

Rentapasada was created to bridge this gap.

Aspiring drivers can begin operating with a PHP 5,000 registration payment, while the remaining deposit and TNVS registration fees are deducted gradually from their daily earnings.

Drive-to-Earn Economics: Predictable Costs, Greater Earning Potential

Traditional ride-hailing arrangements often require drivers to meet high daily boundary payments or operator commissions, leaving many to spend a significant portion of their working day simply covering fixed costs.

Rentapasada introduces a driver-focused revenue-sharing model that prioritizes earnings.

Drivers retain 90% of their earnings during the first year, followed by 85% during the second and third years, ensuring that the majority of the revenue remains with the person behind the wheel.

Operating expenses also remain predictable. Daily rental fees are fixed at:

  • PHP 1,050 for the VinFast Herio Green
  • PHP 1,350 for the seven-seater VinFast Limo Green

The program is offered under a five-year contract, with an option to extend for an additional three years.

Unlike traditional lease arrangements, Rentapasada also provides drivers with the opportunity to purchase their vehicle based on its residual value, creating a genuine pathway from renter to owner.

More Driving Days, Lower Operating Costs

The program’s benefits extend beyond lower startup costs by helping maximize earning opportunities.

In cities where electric vehicles are exempt from the number coding scheme under the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), Rentapasada drivers may be able to operate every day of the week, turning what would normally be a lost workday into another opportunity to earn.

The financial advantages become even more significant amid today’s fluctuating fuel prices. As Metro Manila gasoline prices have continued to climb throughout 2026—with regular gasoline averaging well above PHP 80 per liter in recent weeks—fuel remains one of the biggest operating expenses for ride-hailing drivers.

Electric vehicles help reduce that burden considerably.

For a full-time driver covering approximately 3,500 kilometers per month, the VinFast Herio Green incurs an estimated PHP 5,600 in monthly charging costs based on standard residential electricity rates. By comparison, a similarly sized gasoline-powered crossover traveling the same distance would consume around 238 liters of fuel, costing roughly PHP 15,500 per month—nearly three times more.

Over just two years, that difference can amount to more than PHP 237,000 in direct energy savings.

Drivers requiring additional passenger capacity can also benefit from the seven-seater VinFast Limo Green. Over a two-year period, its total cost of ownership is estimated at PHP 1.37 million, compared with PHP 1.53 million for a conventional gasoline-powered MPV, representing potential savings of more than PHP 162,000.

A Practical Path Toward Vehicle Ownership

Rentapasada reflects VinFast Philippines’ commitment to supporting aspiring Filipino entrepreneurs by making ride-hailing more financially accessible through electric mobility.

Instead of requiring a substantial down payment before drivers can begin earning, the program provides a practical and lower-risk way to enter the transportation sector while working toward long-term vehicle ownership.

Interested applicants can learn more about the Rentapasada program, eligibility requirements, and the application process by visiting the official channels of VinFast Philippines and Green GSM Philippines.

After all, every successful business begins with a first step—and through Rentapasada, that step no longer requires an overwhelming financial commitment.
