An easier and more secure way to pay with iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac

Visa debit and credit cardholders in the Philippines can now add their eligible cards to Apple Pay, giving Filipinos a faster, easier, and more secure way to pay using iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.
Visa (NYSE: V), a global leader in digital payments, announced the availability of Apple Pay for eligible Visa cards in the Philippines, expanding digital payment options for consumers and making everyday purchases and travel transactions more convenient.
The move also strengthens payment convenience for Filipinos traveling overseas and international visitors in the Philippines. Across Asia Pacific, 97% of travelers say they plan to bring credit, debit, or prepaid cards on their trips, compared with just 17% who intend to bring foreign currency. Among travelers, 38% prefer cards because of their security and fraud protection features, while 20% cite their wide acceptance.
Apple Pay brings these benefits together through a payment experience designed to be easy, secure, and private—whether consumers are shopping at home or traveling abroad.
A Faster, More Convenient Way to Pay
For in-store purchases, customers can simply double-click the side button, authenticate, and hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a contactless payment terminal.
Every Apple Pay purchase is authenticated using Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode, along with a unique, one-time dynamic security code. Apple Pay can be used at grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores, and other establishments that accept contactless payments.
For online and in-app purchases, Apple Pay lets customers use their iPhone, iPad, or Mac to check out more quickly without repeatedly creating accounts or entering contact information, card details, or shipping and billing information.
“Apple Pay represents the next evolution of payments in the Philippines, combining ease of use, simplicity, and security in every transaction, helping amplify the payment experience for Visa cardholders in the Philippines. With Apple Pay, Filipinos and tourists alike now have seamless and secure ways to pay across shops, restaurants, travel destinations, and public transport, supporting the nation’s vision to become a cash-lite economy,” said Jeffrey Navarro, Country Manager for Visa Philippines.
Security and Privacy Built In
Security and privacy are at the heart of the Apple Pay experience.
When customers add a Visa credit or debit card to Apple Pay, the actual card number is not stored on the device or on Apple servers. Instead, Apple Pay assigns a unique Device Account Number, which is encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element—an industry-standard, certified chip designed to protect payment information on the device.
This means customers can enjoy the convenience of digital payments without exposing their actual card number during transactions.
Easy to Set Up
Getting started with Apple Pay is simple. On an iPhone, customers can open the Wallet app, tap the “+” button, and follow the steps to add an eligible Visa card.
Once a card is added to an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac, customers can immediately begin using Apple Pay on that device. They will also continue to receive the rewards and benefits associated with their Visa cards.
With Apple Pay now available to eligible Visa cardholders in the Philippines, everyday payments—from morning coffee and grocery runs to restaurant visits, shopping, travel, and other purchases—can become more seamless, secure, and convenient.
