Icelandic-Chinese artist Laufey returns with her enchanting new single “Silver Lining,” her first original release since the GRAMMY®-winning success of her breakthrough album Bewitched and its expanded follow-up Bewitched: The Goddess Edition. This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the rising star’s musical journey.

“Silver Lining” is a dreamy, jazz-infused love song about shedding your inhibitions in the face of desire. “It’s about the freedom of being truly yourself when you fall in love—how love emboldens you, even if it leads you somewhere dangerous,” Laufey shares.

The song is paired with a visually rich music video directed by Jason Lester (who also helmed her “From the Start” and “Santa Baby” visuals). Shot on 35mm film, the video brings Laufey into a surreal masquerade ball, where whimsical wonder quickly spirals into chaos, mirroring the intoxicating nature of love and risk.

Blending jazz, classical, and modern pop, Laufey has emerged as a generational talent, connecting old-school influences like Chet Baker and Ravel to a fresh, younger audience. She’s built a magical universe affectionately known as “Laufey Land,” and fans worldwide are loving the ride.

Born in Reykjavík and raised between Iceland and the U.S., Laufey trained in piano and cello before attending Berklee College of Music. Her debut EP Typical of Me launched her into the spotlight with the hit “Street by Street,” which topped Icelandic Radio.

Since then, she’s amassed over 4.25 billion streams, grown a social media audience of 23 million, earned Platinum awards, a GRAMMY, and TIME’s 2025 Women of the Year recognition. She’s sold out iconic venues like Royal Albert Hall, Radio City Music Hall, and the Hollywood Bowl, and performed with world-class orchestras including the LA Philharmonic and the China Philharmonic Orchestra. Laufey has also shared the stage with artists like Jon Batiste and RAYE, and collaborated with Norah Jones and Beabadoobee.

And yet—this is only the beginning.
