The acclaimed group takes a fresh look at their timeless hit, infusing it with a more cinematic, grander arrangement. This updated version delivers a more profound contemplation on what it means to heal, extend forgiveness, and embrace our shared human flaws.

MANILA, Philippines — Almost ten years after “Leaves” first captured hearts with its gentle, quiet tenderness, Ben&Ben is breathing new life into the beloved ballad. With “Leaves (Reimagined),” the award-winning band delivers a much more mature interpretation of the track, trading the simplicity of the original for a deeper exploration of forgiveness, second chances, and the beautiful messiness of growing up alongside someone.

Rather than a simple remake, “Leaves (Reimagined)” tackles the song from an entirely new emotional angle, using its instrumentation to mirror the intense highs and lows of real-life experiences. The added orchestral arrangements aren’t there just to make the song sound massive; rather, they give both the soaring crescendos and the quietest pauses a deeper sense of space and emotional weight.

The multi-awarded band explains, “We wanted to highlight how much more dynamic life is emotionally when you grow up and grow older, and for this project, we wanted to explore the use of orchestral sounds playing alongside the band. This is because we wanted to make the quiet parts more nuanced and the grand parts more emotional, but in a ‘lived-in’ way.”

Rather than revisiting their past selves, the band approaches the new version from their current reality—reimagining the music as seasoned artists who have grown up alongside a fan base shaped by life’s inevitable seasons of love, grief, and change.

“Since we have grown up—and so have our Liwanag—in the past nine years, we wanted to encapsulate what that experience is like through the lyrics of this song,” Ben&Ben shares. “We think that if we are to live a life with someone constant with us, whether it be family, a best friend, or a romantic partner, the concept of giving someone another chance will always be a given.”

Building on the success of “Lifetime (Reimagined),” the band approached “Leaves” with a completely different mindset, treating it not as a replication of the original, but as an evolution that opens the door to entirely new musical possibilities.

Ben&Ben notes that updating the track required a unique approach, revealing that giving the music a fresh perspective naturally pulled it in unexpected directions. “Leaves definitely demanded a different creative process,” the band says. “One cool discovery we had was that even in the process of breathing new air into each song, continuing their respective stories leads into very different trajectories in many layers: melodically, lyrically, and musically. Each song really has a life of its own.”

Last June, the 17th PMPC Star Awards for Music named Ben&Ben the Duo/Group Artist of the Year. The recognition explicitly highlighted the band’s exceptional work on their latest album, The Traveler Across Dimensions.

Ben&Ben continues to anchor their position at the top of the local music industry with multiple 39th Awit Awards nominations for “Saranggola,” including Record of the Year, Best Pop Recording, and Best Performance by a Group. The recognition sets the stage for their major upcoming concert, Saranggola: The Concert, which will bring fans together for a night of music and milestones at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on October 2.

Ben&Ben’s “Leaves (Reimagined)” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
