Inspired by the Route 196 era, the series reconnects fans with the essence of Filipino live music
The spirit of the local live music scene takes center stage once again as Minsan Studio continues its growing concert series, Minsan Gig sa Skydome, this May 2026, with two back-to-back nights designed to celebrate music, memory, and community.

Titled “Minsan Maingay (Sometimes Loud)” on May 8 and “Minsan Malumanay (Sometimes Calm)” on May 9, the two-part showcase delivers contrasting yet complementary live experiences—united by three guiding principles: accessibility, nostalgia, and shared community.
The series was envisioned by key figures in the Filipino music scene, including Monty Macalino of Mayonnaise and Jugs Jugueta of Itchyworms, both longtime advocates of the local gig culture. Together with founder Jason Conanan, the initiative seeks to revive the raw, unfiltered joy of live music—echoing the energy of the Route 196 era while reshaping it for a broader, more inclusive audience.
Unlike traditional concert formats, Minsan Gig sa Skydome embraces a laid-back, flexible setup. Audiences are free to experience the show on their own terms—watch full sets, step out for a breather, enjoy food, or simply move through the space at their own pace. The result is a gig environment that feels organic, familiar, and refreshingly unstructured.
Held at SM Skydome in northern Metro Manila, the series reflects Minsan Studio’s commitment to accessibility—not only through ticket pricing, but also through venue choice. By bringing live performances to a major mall setting, the organizers open the gig experience to audiences who may not typically visit traditional bar or indie music venues. Air-conditioned comfort, optional seating, and relaxed viewing options further broaden its appeal to both seasoned gig-goers and first-time listeners.
The May edition features two carefully curated lineups:
May 8: “Minsan Maingay”
A high-energy night packed with rock and distortion-driven acts, including Sandwich, Mayonnaise, NOBITA, Setsuna, One Click Straight, Chicosci, and Fragments.
May 9: “Minsan Malumanay”
A softer but equally vibrant showcase featuring indie and alternative acts such as The Ridleys, Minaw, The Bloomfields, Jensen & The Flips, Soapdish, El Manu, and Amiel Sol, plus a stand-up comedy set from James Caraan.
Together, both nights reinforce what Minsan Gig sa Skydome is becoming—not just a concert series, but a communal space where music feels personal, accessible, and alive.
As Conanan puts it simply: “Hindi ito concert. Gig lang. Enjoy lang.”
