AirAsia Philippines Reminds the Public: Bomb Jokes Aren’t Funny

*AirAsia reminds the public of proper decorum when flying

AirAsia Philippines urges the public to adhere to established safety protocols while traveling to avoid disruptions, especially with the increasing number of travelers heading to various island destinations within the country and to colder international locales.

Despite the relaxed and cheerful atmosphere often associated with flying, AirAsia emphasizes its zero-tolerance policy towards any form of disruptive behavior, including making bomb-related jokes that could seriously compromise the safety of the flight and disrupt vacation plans. All AirAsia staff are trained safety professionals, equipped to handle any potential threats with utmost professionalism.

“Bomb jokes and other security-related issues are treated with the utmost seriousness and follow strict protocols. AirAsia underscores that such jokes are immediately perceived as security threats, potentially causing discomfort or trauma, particularly for first-time flyers,” shared AirAsia Philippines’ Head of Communications and Public Affairs, First Officer Steve Dailisan.

In addition to jeopardizing travel plans, making bomb jokes carries severe legal consequences under Philippine laws, including Presidential Decree 1727 and Republic Act 11479 (the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2000), punishable by up to five years in prison or a fine of PHP40,000.

As the world’s leading low-cost airline, AirAsia also reminds passengers to maintain decorum and consideration for fellow travelers. Prompt and orderly seating facilitates smooth boarding and timely departures. Consumption of alcohol to the point of intoxication is strongly discouraged, with unruly behavior potentially resulting in disciplinary action, including removal from the flight, in accordance with AirAsia’s terms and conditions of carriage.

Lastly, AirAsia stresses the importance of maintaining cleanliness within the aircraft, a shared responsibility between passengers and cabin crew. Proper disposal of trash, especially upon disembarkation, not only contributes to on-time performance but also enhances the overall travel experience for everyone on board.
