Xiaomi EV has officially introduced Xiaomi SkyNomad (小米澎程), the brand’s second vehicle series, marking a major milestone in the company’s growing electric vehicle portfolio. Designed as an “intelligent, reconfigurable, large-space SUV,” the SkyNomad Series expands Xiaomi’s vision of smart mobility by offering a vehicle that prioritizes the people inside as much as the journey itself.

While the acclaimed Xiaomi SU7 and Xiaomi YU7 Series were engineered as “the driver’s car,” focusing on exhilarating performance and driving experience, the new SkyNomad Series takes a different approach. It transforms the cabin into a flexible living environment—one that seamlessly adapts to work, relaxation, family time, and travel throughout the day.
The launch reflects Xiaomi EV’s evolution after more than five years of automotive innovation, delivering two distinct mobility solutions designed to meet the diverse lifestyles of modern consumers.
A New Vision for Modern Mobility
As China’s automotive market continues to mature, spacious six- and seven-seat SUVs have become increasingly common. Yet Xiaomi believes today’s consumers are looking beyond generous cabin dimensions and premium seating. The real differentiator is how comfortable, adaptable, and intuitive a vehicle feels in everyday life.
Modern drivers spend hours commuting, answer work calls from parked vehicles, take weekend family road trips, or even turn their cars into temporary living spaces while camping. Recognizing these changing habits, Xiaomi envisioned a vehicle that functions not merely as transportation but as an extension of the home.
That philosophy became the foundation of the SkyNomad project, which began development in early 2023 with a singular mission: to create an SUV built around the real-life experiences of its occupants.
An Intelligent Cabin That Evolves with Every Journey
At the heart of the SkyNomad Series is Xiaomi’s all-new Kunlun Architecture, a next-generation vehicle platform purpose-built to maximize cabin flexibility.
Its flat-floor design and long-track seating system allow the interior to effortlessly transition between multiple configurations. During travel, it comfortably accommodates passengers, luggage, pets, and cargo. Once parked, the cabin transforms into a productive mobile office, a relaxing lounge, or an inviting family activity space.
This level of versatility is made possible by Xiaomi’s deep expertise in artificial intelligence, its expansive smart-device ecosystem, and advanced intelligent manufacturing—three technological pillars that uniquely position the company to redefine the in-car experience.
“Our answer was to let intelligence define the space, to build a living interior that moves with you,” said Lei Jun, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, in a Weibo post discussing the inspiration behind the SkyNomad Series.
Designed for Life’s Many Roles
Rather than catering to a single type of customer, SkyNomad is built for people whose daily lives constantly shift between professional responsibilities and family commitments.
Whether it’s navigating the weekday commute, serving as a mobile workspace between meetings, transporting the family on weekend adventures, or supporting outdoor getaways, the SUV is designed to adapt effortlessly to every role. Xiaomi envisions SkyNomad not as a lifestyle statement, but as a practical, intelligent companion that evolves alongside its owner throughout the day.
Expanding Xiaomi’s Electric Vehicle Vision
Developed over three and a half years, the Xiaomi SkyNomad Series represents another significant step in Xiaomi EV’s long-term strategy to create intelligent vehicles that integrate seamlessly into everyday life.
The SkyNomad Series is set to launch soon in mainland China, with additional details expected to be announced in the coming months. As Xiaomi continues to broaden its EV lineup, SkyNomad signals the company’s ambition to reshape not only how people drive, but also how they live, work, and connect while on the road.
