On June 5, SNAP employees, volunteers, and local partners came together to support this year’s global theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” underscoring the urgent need for action against one of the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges.

🌿 Growing Green at SNAP-Magat

At the SNAP-Magat hydroelectric facility in Ramon, Isabela, around 30 employees and volunteers rolled up their sleeves for a vegetable planting activity in the plant’s Gabion area. More than just a tribute to nature, the initiative promotes food sustainability and the importance of cultivating green spaces within industrial facilities.

♻️ Uniting for Clean Rivers in Benguet

Simultaneously, SNAP-Benguet spearheaded a clean-up drive at its Ambuklao and Binga hydroelectric power plants, located in the municipalities of Bokod and Itogon, Benguet.

The event mobilized 76 volunteers, including SNAP employees, contractors, barangay officials, local residents, the 54th Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army, and members of the Tinongdan Indigenous Peoples Organization (TINPO).

Together, the group collected and sorted 31 sacks or approximately 222 kilograms of plastic waste, reinforcing the power of collective action. All waste was turned over to the nearest Material Recovery Facility for proper disposal and recycling.

🌎 A Shared Mission for a Cleaner Future

Observed globally every June 5, World Environment Day is a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to protect the planet. SNAP’s collaborative efforts across its operations highlight its ongoing mission to energize a sustainable future—championing local action, environmental awareness, and community empowerment.

Through hands-on initiatives like these, SNAP continues to lead by example, proving that real change starts with meaningful, local action.
