VSR Silver Year

VITRO Inc., the country’s largest data center operator and a proud subsidiary of ePLDT, is celebrating its silver anniversary this August — marking 25 years of driving digital transformation for hundreds of enterprises and institutions across the Philippines.

Since its founding in 2000 with the launch of the Philippines’ first-ever commercial data center in Pasig, VITRO has grown into the country’s largest and most trusted data center network, now operating over 13,400 racks nationwide. From a single 4MW facility, VITRO has become the backbone of more than 400 local and global organizations across finance, telecom, retail, public sector, and other critical industries. This growth reflects the visionary leadership of PLDT Group Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, who set out to build world-class digital infrastructure that empowers Filipinos.

“For 25 years, VITRO has been more than just a network of data centers — it’s been the foundation of our nation’s digital future,” said Victor S. Genuino, President and CEO of ePLDT and VITRO Inc. “We’ve built the infrastructure, the expertise, and the trust that Filipino businesses rely on — and will continue to rely on — in a digital-first economy.”

Built to Lead the Digital Age

From day one, VITRO set the industry benchmark as the Philippines’ first provider of enterprise-grade data centers. Constantly evolving with technology, it now supports advanced innovations from cloud computing to artificial intelligence, all aligned with global standards.

A recent milestone is the VITRO Santa Rosa hyperscale data center — the country’s first AI-ready facility designed for high-density and high-performance computing. This innovation strengthens the Philippines’ position as an emerging digital hub in Asia.

Looking ahead, VITRO is already planning another hyperscale data center, with groundbreaking set for 2026, further solidifying its role in shaping the digital future.

Building the Next Generation of Tech Leaders

VITRO’s success goes beyond infrastructure — it’s also about nurturing people. Through its flagship program, the VITRO Academy, the company is cultivating the next generation of Filipino data center professionals.

Developed in partnership with five universities — National University, Asia Pacific College, Ateneo de Naga University, FEU-Roosevelt, and Wesleyan University — the program has already trained over 400 students, with many earning certifications across three tiers of expertise. Graduates emerge with hands-on skills ready to operate in live data center environments.

“You can’t build a digital-powered economy without talent,” Genuino emphasized. “VITRO Academy ensures we’re not just building platforms — we’re also empowering young Filipinos to become the future leaders of tech.”

Looking to the Next 25 Years

As VITRO marks its 25th year, its mission remains clear: to build, empower, and enable a Digital Philippines that is inclusive, competitive, and future-ready.

The company is strengthening partnerships with industry leaders and government institutions to accelerate cloud adoption, AI innovation, and collaborative digital ecosystems that will drive the nation’s competitiveness on the global stage.

“Our silver anniversary is more than a celebration of longevity,” Genuino said. “It’s a reaffirmation of our mission — to power everything from the banks that safeguard your money, to the government agencies that serve you, to the online platforms that fuel commerce. Twenty-five years on, our commitment is stronger than ever.”
