From Buying a Phone Gift to Winning a Luxury EV: The Accidental Mercedes-Benz Winner’s “Happy Problems”

In an interview with Wazzup PH, John Kenneth Gervacio proved that sometimes, absolute fate takes over when you least expect it. Gervacio, a hardworking supervisor at a Korean restaurant, went from a regular smartphone shopper to the grand prize winner of a brand-new, luxury Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 EV through the recent HONOR 600 Series Win-A-Benz Promo.

However, his stroke of legendary luck has instantly brought about a hilarious set of real-world “happy problems.”

The Accidental Entry

Gervacio’s journey to becoming a luxury car owner didn’t start with a dream of winning a raffle. In fact, it started out as a completely selfless act. Speaking with Wazzup PH, Gervacio shared that he merely walked into an authorized HONOR branch with one goal in mind: to find an HONOR H90 smartphone as a special gift for his wife.

When Wazzup PH asked if he was even aware of the ongoing nationwide raffle, Gervacio admitted he was completely clueless.

“Wala po akong idea, nalaman ko nalang po sya nung mismong pumunta ko sa branch nila,”Gervacio shared. (I had no idea. I only found out about it when I actually went to their branch.)

By pre-ordering a device from the new line, his single purchase was automatically entered into the grand draw. Out of thousands of eager tech enthusiasts and hopeful participants across the Philippines, fate chose the restaurant supervisor. He single-handedly walked away with a fully electric premium SUV worth millions of pesos.

New Car, New Problems: “No License, No Parking”

While driving home a Mercedes-Benz is a dream come true for most people, Gervacio quickly realized that life has a funny way of balancing things out.

Right after the high-profile win, the practical realities of owning a massive luxury electric vehicle set in. Gervacio confessed to Wazzup PH that he has two immediate logistical hurdles to solve: He cannot drive: The grand prize winner does not currently know how to drive a vehicle, meaning the luxury EV will have to wait until he logs some serious hours at a driving school. Where to park: Living and working in the bustling metro, Gervacio hilariously noted that his very first major headache after the announcement is finding an actual, secure parking space large enough to safe-keep a high-end Mercedes-Benz.

A Win to Remember

The HONOR 600 Series campaign heavily pushed the slogan #AnythingIsPossibleWithHONOR600—a sentiment that rings entirely true for Gervacio and his family.

He may not have a driver’s license, and he may currently be hunting down an available parking spot, but John Kenneth Gervacio is officially moving forward in ultimate style. His story serves as a heartwarming reminder that sometimes, the best rewards in life find you when you are simply trying to do something kind for the people you love.
