This September 2026, The Itchyworms are set to take the stage in New Zealand for their headlining Akin Ka Na Lang tour. Fans across the country can catch the iconic Filipino pop-rock band as they bring their signature energy to four distinct cities: Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown, and Christchurch.
The Itchyworms have long elevated OPM with their clever songwriting, memorable pop-rock melodies, and crowd-pleasing anthems. Their New Zealand tour not only provides Kiwi-based Filipinos with a meaningful connection to their roots but also introduces broader audiences to the distinct character of Philippine music.
For Jugs Jugueta, these shows are an opportunity to engage with Filipino communities abroad and honor their shared heritage. Noting a widespread, growing admiration for the country’s music and identity, he expressed his gratitude: “It’s very humbling. It’s really great that the world is now discovering all things Filipino.”
Jugueta hopes the multi-city tour will serve as a bridge between cultures, welcoming both Filipinos and their local friends to the shows. Emphasizing the celebratory nature of the upcoming concerts, he noted, “We encourage all Filipinos to bring their Kiwi friends and family so that we can show them how Filipinos party!”
Meanwhile, drummer and vocalist Jazz Nicolas pointed to the band’s cross-generational songwriting style as a major highlight for both local and foreign attendees. “It’s like hiding medicine in chocolate. We like to put petty or tragic lyrics inside a catchy pop melody,” he explained. This signature blend of humor, heartbreak, and infectious hooks is exactly what allows the band’s music to transcend cultural boundaries, a dynamic Nicolas hopes will introduce OPM to a much broader global audience during the tour.
