As a passionate advocate for sustainability, SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Supermalls, once again united thousands of Filipinos in celebration of Philippine Environment Month, underscoring its unwavering commitment to building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future through the movement for an #SMWasteFreeFuture.
Throughout June 2025, SM Supermalls across the country became powerful hubs of environmental action, inspiring changemakers, communities, and partners to take part in impactful programs centered around three core themes: Cycle, Clean, and Conserve.
đŽââïž Cycle: Pedaling Towards Greener Lifestyles
In celebration of World Bicycle Day, 26 SM malls nationwide hosted community bike rides and bike-centric events that promoted green mobility, health, and climate action. These werenât just ridesâthey were meaningful movements that pushed forward ideas of conscious living and sustainable transport.
𧀠Clean: Coming Together for Water Conservation
In honor of World Oceans Day, 18 SM malls organized simultaneous coastal and river cleanup drives in collaboration with the DENR, local governments, youth groups, and private organizations. With more than 5,000 volunteers mobilized and over 30,000 kilograms of waste collected, the effort became a powerful statement of what collective responsibility can achieve.
đ± Conserve with Purpose: Where Advocacy Meets Culture
SM Cares expanded its environmental engagement by combining education, volunteerism, and creativity. From green film showings to bike-hike-plant reforestation activities and a youth-led battle of the bands, each event turned environmentalism into a personal and cultural experience. These initiatives helped deepen awareness of climate action, biodiversity, and sustainable practices.
