Wins Diagnostics Provider of the Year for the third time, alongside Facilities and ICT accolades
Healthcare leaders from across the region convened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on April 10 for the prestigious Healthcare Asia Awards 2025, an annual event celebrating innovation and excellence in patient care. Among the standout winners was Singapore Diagnostics (SGD), a leading medical laboratory in the Philippines, which brought home three major awards—Diagnostics Provider of the Year, Facilities Improvement Initiative of the Year, and ICT Initiative of the Year.

This marks SGD’s third consecutive win as Diagnostics Provider of the Year, a testament to its continued commitment to advancing healthcare through innovation and quality service.
As the Philippine arm of Singapore-based Pathology Asia Holdings, SGD has rapidly expanded since its inception in 2013. Operating under the rigorous standards of College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation, the company has grown from serving 800,000 patients annually pre-pandemic to over two million patients across 60 locations nationwide today.
One of its most impactful initiatives is the SGD Home Service Laboratory, a mobile phlebotomy service that allows patients to schedule licensed professionals to collect laboratory samples directly from their homes. This convenient service removes the need for hospital visits, enhancing access and comfort for patients.
SGD is also heavily invested in workforce development. Through its Credentialing Program, the company provides specialized training in key areas such as hematology, immunochemistry, and microbiology. In 2024 alone, SGD’s medical technologists completed 359 training modules, ensuring up-to-date technical proficiency across its team.
The laboratory’s award-winning ICT Initiative featured the rollout of e-SLIP (Electronic Single Laboratory Integration Platform). This system interconnects laboratory networks, cuts turnaround times, and reduces human error. With its robust digital infrastructure, SGD now serves as the send-out partner for over 800 laboratories nationwide.
Beyond its own facilities, SGD has played a pivotal role in upgrading hospital diagnostics, most notably at VisayasMed (formerly Visayas Community Medical Center) in Cebu. Since assuming laboratory operations in 2024, SGD has modernized equipment, streamlined systems, and retrained staff. These efforts resulted in double-digit growth in patient cases and test volumes, significantly shorter turnaround times, and notable improvements in both patient outcomes and hospital revenue.
Looking ahead, SGD continues to explore advanced technologies to extend diagnostics access to both urban and underserved communities, all while staying true to its mission of delivering affordable, high-quality healthcare for every Filipino.
