Batangas youth empowered to become future leaders in hospitality

For over three decades, Landco Pacific Corporation has been a trailblazer in luxury leisure and sustainable seaside development in the Philippines. Now, the company is going beyond building destinations—it’s shaping lives through its Adopt-a-Scholar Program, a long-term educational support initiative for underprivileged yet deserving youth from the communities of Club Laiya and CaSoBe (Calatagan South Beach) in Batangas.

🎓 A Day at the Headquarters: Inspiring Future Leaders

Recently, Landco invited its scholars and their parents to its corporate headquarters for an immersive learning experience. From department briefings to an exclusive meet-and-greet with President and CEO Erickson Y. Manzano, the visit offered a glimpse into the company’s real estate and hospitality operations.

“Your journey is bigger than yourselves,” Manzano told the scholars. “What you’re building today—through education and character—will shape your communities and the lives you touch tomorrow.”

As a motivational boost, Manzano also announced that the top three graduates will receive an all-expense-paid overnight stay at either Club Laiya or CaSoBe with their families.

🌟 A Legacy of Empowerment

Launched in 2023 through a partnership with Batangas State University and local public high schools, the Adopt-a-Scholar Program is now in its second year and supports nine scholars—five from Calatagan and four from Laiya. Most are pursuing Tourism Management or Hospitality Management degrees.

Each scholar receives comprehensive financial aid covering:

  • Daily living expenses (food, transport, housing)
  • School supplies and project costs
  • Internship opportunities at LLV-managed properties such as Crusoe Cabins, Chairman’s Cabin, Cocoons, Apollo, Cupola, and Camperisti.

Scholars also gain practical training through their on-the-job internships at CaSoBe, Club Laiya, and nearby hospitality partners like Kalaiyaan Coast.

Upon graduation, these young talents are strongly considered for employment within Landco’s growing hospitality portfolio—allowing them to build careers close to home and uplift their communities.

🌱 Sustainability With a Heart

Landco’s vision of sustainability is deeply holistic. Beyond eco-friendly construction, the company emphasizes people-centered development, community resilience, and inclusive education. The Adopt-a-Scholar Program reflects its strong alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the ESG roadmap of parent company Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).

Among Landco’s sustainability milestones:

  • Preliminary EDGE Certification for The Spinnaker (Club Laiya)
  • Full EDGE Certification for Crusoe Cabins (CaSoBe)
  • LEED registration for both Club Laiya and CaSoBe
  • Ecological efforts including mangrove reforestation, turtle hatchling releases, and marine life conservation

Importantly, 70% of LLV’s workforce are local residents, reinforcing Landco’s belief in sustainable tourism powered by local communities.

“As we grow our developments, we want to grow with the people who call these places home,” said Manzano. “The success of one scholar can inspire a family, strengthen a community, and ignite lasting change.”
