Filipino culinary content creator Abi Marquez has once again earned the title FoodPHILIPPINES Advocate Par Excellence, marking a remarkable back-to-back recognition that underscores her growing influence in the global food scene.

The announcement was made during “#BigTasteReveal: The 2025 IFEX Philippines Media Preview” held on May 15 at Casa Ibarra, MOA, Pasay City, as anticipation builds for IFEX Philippines 2025.

The recognition is part of the prestigious KATHA Awards for Food, organized annually by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM). Since its launch in 2015, the KATHA seal has stood as a symbol of excellence and innovation in Philippine food products, helping elevate Filipino exports to the global stage.
Present at the event were IFEX Philippines Project Director Rowena Mendoza, CITEM Executive Director Leah Pulido Ocampo, Deputy Executive Director Malou Mediran, and CITEM Founder Dr. Mina Gabor.

A Voice for Filipino Food
Abi Marquez’s latest accolade celebrates her continued success as a trailblazer in Filipino food storytelling. Her creative, heartfelt content—from viral takes on local dishes like the Peach Mango Pie Lumpia, to nostalgic recipe videos that blend education and emotion—has made her one of the most beloved and trusted culinary creators online.
“Being named a FoodPHILIPPINES Advocate Par Excellence—for the second time—feels like a full-circle moment,” Abi shared. “I started creating content because I loved food. I stayed because I realized how powerful food could be.”
What began in her parents’ kitchen has since grown into a global platform, with over 8 million followers, several international recognitions, and collaborations with culinary icons such as Gordon Ramsay and Chef Nobu.
“Since the last time I stood here, I’ve cooked Filipino food in other countries, for people from entirely different cultures—and the beauty is, they loved it,” she said. “Because great food speaks a universal language.”
Sharing Filipino Flavors with the World
As she continues her partnership with the FoodPHILIPPINES program, Abi is set to work on fresh global content—including digital campaigns, international expos, and spotlight features—bringing the rich flavors of the Philippines to a broader audience.

“Some may see these as personal milestones,” she said, referring to her Webby Award win and James Beard nomination, “but to me, they’re proof that we don’t need to change who we are to be seen. We just need to show up—with our recipes, our stories, and our lumpia.”
Abi’s journey is a powerful reminder that Filipino cuisine is more than food—it’s culture, identity, and heritage on every plate.
“Let’s keep cooking, keep sharing, and keep proving that Filipino food is world-class—because it always has been.”
Mabuhay and congratulations, Abi!
