Toronto-born artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Chris LaRocca returns with his third single of the year, “slow dance in the diner,” out now via Red Bull Records/Wonderchild. The track offers a heartfelt glimpse into LaRocca’s evolving artistry and teases the emotional richness of his forthcoming EP, dog years.

With his signature raw honesty and meticulous production, LaRocca paints an intimate picture of love found in life’s quietest moments. “slow dance in the diner” is tender and nostalgic, shaped by unfiltered lyrics, haunting vocals, and a gentle yet expressive guitar line. The track dives into new sonic territory for LaRocca, taking cues from Americana and folk influences that favor storytelling and simplicity—genres he has long admired but only now begins to explore in his own work.
“This song reminisces on a trip I took with my partner to Halifax,” LaRocca shares. “After visiting Peggy’s Cove, we found this late-night spot called ‘The Finer Diner.’ It was nearly empty, old country music playing, just us and the guy behind the counter. As we waited for the bill, we started slow dancing in the aisle. That moment—completely still, completely ours—felt like something out of a movie. I realized how rare it is to just slow down and truly live in the moment.”

“slow dance in the diner” follows the release of “ladybug” and “laundry day,” tracks that began laying the emotional and sonic groundwork for dog years. Each single serves as a deeply personal chapter from a transformative year in LaRocca’s life—a year defined by emotional growth, self-discovery, and the intricate beauty of lasting love.
Throughout the EP, LaRocca balances the highs and vulnerabilities of a maturing relationship, navigating the space between awe and insecurity, fulfillment and fragility. With each release, he invites listeners deeper into his world—where honesty drives the sound and every lyric comes straight from lived experience.
As dog years continues to unfold, Chris LaRocca reaffirms his place as one of today’s most compelling emerging voices—turning fleeting moments into timeless music.
