A first-of-its-kind, multi-sensory tea showcase, celebrating tea as a deeply human ritual and living practice.

The Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM), in partnership with global tea brand CHAGEE and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), is set to unveil Garden of Senses: A Tea Reverie—a groundbreaking exhibition that invites visitors to explore tea as an evolving human ritual, shaped by centuries of craftsmanship, culture, and modern creativity. The showcase will be open daily from January 28 to June 7, 2026, at the ACM.

A Multi-Sensory Exploration of Tea

Garden of Senses: A Tea Reverie transcends the conventional experience of tea by engaging visitors in a multi-sensory journey that stimulates not only taste and smell, but also sight, touch, hearing, and thought. This immersive experience invites us to reconnect with the essence of being human, as tea drinking mirrors our collective human experience—a moment of mindfulness that spans across cultures and centuries.

A New Chapter in Tea Heritage

“This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the Asian Civilisations Museum as we partner with CHAGEE and the Singapore Tourism Board for the first time,” said Clement Onn, Director of the Asian Civilisations Museum and Peranakan Museum. “By combining our museum’s rich collections with contemporary practices, we offer a fresh and sensory way to engage with tea’s deep cultural roots. Tea is not just a beverage; it reflects diverse Asian traditions, and this exhibition invites visitors to witness its enduring role in our lives.”

CHAGEE, a pioneer in modern tea culture, shares this vision of deepening the global understanding of tea. “Tea has always been a cultural connector, bringing people together across generations and geographies,” said Lawrence Wen, CEO of CHAGEE Singapore. “Through this exhibition, we aim to showcase tea as more than just heritage—it’s a living ritual that evolves in our modern world.”

This collaboration also showcases STB’s strategic approach to destination marketing. By fusing global brands with Singapore’s rich cultural attractions, STB is positioning Singapore as an exciting hub for creative and authentic experiences.

A Curated Journey of Tea

The exhibition is an evolving journey that brings together ACM’s historic collections, contemporary art, and new commissions by local artists such as Ashley Yeo and Alecia Neo. Yeo’s Shade of Tea evokes the stillness and materiality of tea leaves in delicate floating paper forms, while Neo’s Symphony of Tea—a collaboration with composer Clarence Chung and videographer Jonathan Goh—explores the rhythmic and sonic experiences of tea, inspired by ASMR.

Visitors will experience sculptures inspired by tea leaves, immersive soundscapes, fragrance-led installations, and tactile explorations of tea-making tools. These elements celebrate the ongoing evolution of tea as both an art form and a communal practice. Historical teawares, 3D-printed replicas, and contemporary CHAGEE cups are displayed alongside nature-inspired spaces, encouraging moments of reflection, pause, and connection.

Pop-Up Experience at the Singapore River

The exhibition extends beyond the museum with a CHAGEE pop-up at the Singapore River, offering a selection of beverages and exclusive merchandise previously only available in China. The pop-up will feature the launch of two limited-edition CHAGEE plush charms, including a light blue variant available exclusively to ticket holders and a light brown variant for walk-in customers. These plushes combine a horse—representing the ancient tea trade routes—with the iconic Merlion, bridging tea heritage with Singapore’s unique cultural identity.
