ATE GAY SUFFERS STROKE, REMAINS IN CRITICAL CONDITION; FAMILY SEEKS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Comedian continues to rely on life-support machines as doctors advise against hospital transfer due to his delicate condition

Comedian Ate Gay, whose real name is Gil Aducal Morales, remains in critical condition after suffering a stroke while confined in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Asian Hospital and Medical Center, his family confirmed in a medical update released on Friday, October 30, 2026.

According to the family’s statement, Ate Gay was rushed to the hospital’s Emergency Room on October 17 after experiencing difficulty breathing. Following medical examinations, doctors diagnosed him with septic shock and acute respiratory failure secondary to pneumonia, a serious infection that affected his breathing and blood circulation.

He was subsequently admitted to the ICU for intensive treatment and continuous monitoring.

The family shared that, based on the latest assessment of his attending physicians, Ate Gay had already overcome the initial septic shock. However, another medical complication emerged on October 29, when doctors discovered that he had suffered a stroke that caused damage to the right side of his brain.

“At present, he still relies on life-support machines to support his body’s vital functions. His condition remains critical but guarded,” the family stated.

FAMILY CONSIDERS HOSPITAL TRANSFER AMID RISING MEDICAL EXPENSES

The family also addressed concerns surrounding Ate Gay’s continued confinement at Asian Hospital and Medical Center, explaining that they had considered transferring him to another medical facility because of the increasing cost of his hospitalization.

However, his attending physicians advised against the transfer, citing the risks associated with his delicate condition.

For now, Ate Gay will remain in the ICU, where doctors will continue monitoring his vital signs, organ functions, and overall medical condition.

The family’s decision to continue his treatment at Asian Hospital was also influenced by his existing medical history, as the comedian had previously received cancer treatment at the same institution. His attending physicians are already familiar with his medical background and previous treatments.

FAMILY APPEALS FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND CONTINUED PRAYERS

As medical expenses continue to accumulate, the family is seeking assistance from government agencies, private individuals, charitable institutions, and other organizations to help cover Ate Gay’s ongoing treatment.

Earlier reports published on October 28 and 29 disclosed that his hospital bill had already reached approximately ₱2.4 million, based on a progress payment request shared by his family.

Despite the difficult circumstances, the family expressed gratitude to everyone who has extended financial assistance, offered encouragement, and included the comedian in their prayers.

They also acknowledged that people have their own responsibilities and personal struggles, emphasizing that every contribution, regardless of amount, is deeply appreciated.

“Despite everything, we continue to hope and place our trust in God’s mercy and grace,” the family said.

ATE GAY’S ONGOING HEALTH BATTLE

The latest development comes amid Ate Gay’s continuing battle with cancer. In September 2025, the comedian publicly revealed that he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.

In the months that followed, he shared updates about his treatment, including completing his chemotherapy and radiation therapy. In June 2026, he also spoke about encouraging MRI results, saying that the previously detected lumps in his neck and nose were no longer present.

Earlier this month, on October 15, Ate Gay held a gathering described as a “living funeral” or “celebration of life” at Forest Lake Memorial Parks in Biñan, Laguna. The occasion brought together family members, friends, and loved ones who had the opportunity to express their appreciation and share heartfelt messages with the comedian.

As of October 30, Ate Gay remains in critical but guarded condition at Asian Hospital and Medical Center.

His family continues to appeal for financial assistance and prayers as they navigate this difficult period, hoping for positive developments in his recovery.
