On April 11, 2025, the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2025 held its ninth international briefing at the F1 Hotel in Bonifacio Global City, Manila. This event was part of a global tour that aims to engage gaming communities and industry stakeholders across Asia and the Middle East. The Manila session offered detailed insights into TGS 2025, which is scheduled for September 25–28 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.

TGS 2025: Embracing an “Unlimited, Never-ending Playground”

TGS 2025 revolves around the theme “Unlimited, Neverending Playground,” which reflects a strong commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse gaming environment. This theme emphasizes the event’s goal to connect creators and players from around the world. It aims to foster a space where gaming transcends boundaries and becomes a universal playground for everyone.

Event Overview and Anticipations

Following the success of TGS 2024, which attracted 274,739 attendees and featured 985 exhibitors from 44 countries, the organizers are expecting a robust turnout of over 250,000 participants for 2025. The event will maintain its hybrid format. The organizers will combine on-site exhibitions with online programs, allowing attendees to access them through the official TGS website and platforms such as Steam.

Opportunities for Indie Developers

One key focus of the briefing was the Indie 80 program, which is designed to spotlight independent game developers. This initiative offers 80 indie developers complimentary exhibition space at TGS 2025. It includes booth setup, equipment, and access to valuable networking opportunities. Additionally, selected participants will qualify for the “Sense of Wonder Night” (SOWN), an event that celebrates innovative game concepts. Companies looking to support indie projects and enhance their brand visibility can also explore sponsorship opportunities.

Representatives particularly encouraged Filipino developers to apply, highlighting the potential for games rich in storytelling and cultural elements to resonate with Japanese publishers.

Exhibitor Guidelines and New Regulations

The organizers highlighted updated exhibitor guidelines during the briefing. These include standardized booth structures to improve layout efficiency and ensure better crowd flow. Only exhibitors who apply for 42 or more booths will be allowed to request an island-style layout. Moreover, a new “Accessibility Zone” will debut at TGS 2025, showcasing innovations in game accessibility for players of all abilities. In addition, public day opening hours have been adjusted to start at 9:30 AM. This change allows more time for attendees to explore the exhibits.

Global Outreach and Community Engagement

Call for Overseas Exhibitors

The Manila briefing forms part of a broader series of international sessions that aim to encourage global participation in TGS 2025. Previous briefings took place in cities such as Taipei, Seoul, Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta. These sessions offer localized insights and actively promote engagement among regional developers and fans.

Ticket Sales and Participation

Tickets for the public days of TGS 2025 will go on sale in mid-July. Business day tickets will become available in early August. Exhibitors should review the updated guidelines and adhere to application deadlines to ensure a smooth and successful participation.
