What if a smartphone launch felt less like a technology presentation and more like a fashion magazine cover brought to life?

TECNO brought that vision to life in the Philippines with “MAKE IT LIGHTER: The Living Cover Runway,” an immersive, fashion-led launch experience that placed modern Filipino women—their personal styles, ambitions, everyday responsibilities, and individual stories—at the center of the spotlight.

Instead of focusing solely on technical specifications and product demonstrations, TECNO transformed the evening into a visual narrative inspired by its “Make It Lighter” philosophy. The concept reflected both the new CAMON SLIM 5G and the women it was designed for: a smartphone with an exceptionally slim profile and the capabilities to keep pace with increasingly demanding, fast-moving lifestyles.

For Filipino women balancing careers, commutes, family, friendships, passions, and personal ambitions, being lighter does not necessarily mean having less to do. Sometimes, it means finding smarter ways to carry what matters most.

At The Living Cover Runway, that idea took center stage.

Not Models. Living Covers.

The centerpiece of the launch was The Living Cover Runway, which featured 15 women from different backgrounds, professions, and stages of life.

The lineup brought together celebrities and content creators alongside entrepreneurs, working mothers, businesswomen, women in technology, community builders, and other Filipinas whose identities extend far beyond a single title.

The concept was simple yet meaningful: every woman deserves to be the cover of her own story.

Rather than walking the runway as models alone, each participant was introduced by name and identity on the LED screen. As she walked with the CAMON SLIM 5G, a short narration offered a glimpse into her personal journey—what she does, what she carries through life, and what making life “lighter” means to her.

The result was a runway experience that celebrated not just fashion, but the individuality and everyday realities of the women wearing it.

15 Women, 15 Different Definitions of Strength

There was deliberately no single definition of the “CAMON woman.” Instead, each participant brought her own experiences, ambitions, and understanding of strength to the runway.

Solo working mom and advertising professional Ely Halig offered a perspective shaped by motherhood, career, and personal ambition. As a breadwinner and competitive padel player, her story highlighted how motherhood does not mean a woman must make herself smaller or set aside the other parts of her identity.

For Ely, making life lighter means continuing to create space for her career, her daughter, and the passions that remain uniquely her own.

Twinkle Dimayuga, meanwhile, transformed her experience as a solo mother into community action, eventually helping build MAMA—Mothers Advocating through Ministry and Action. Her journey offered another interpretation of “lighter”: strength does not always mean carrying every responsibility alone. Sometimes, it begins with allowing others to share the load and become part of the solution.

The runway also celebrated women whose stories explored reinvention, creativity, identity, and personal growth, alongside familiar personalities such as Aubrey Miles, Carlyn Ocampo, Fuschia Anne Ravena, Max Collins, and Megan Young.

Leading the finale was Megan Young, actress, host, and Miss World 2013. Her journey through pageantry and entertainment reflected the evening’s celebration of women who continue to evolve beyond a single title. Her Living Cover moment brought together the confidence, style, and sense of possibility that defined the launch.

Together, the 15 women transformed what could have been a conventional celebrity fashion showcase into a moving portrait of modern Filipina life—diverse in experience, individual in identity, and united by the freedom to define their own stories.

Burgundy Red Becomes a Fashion Language

Fashion played a central role in bringing TECNO’s campaign concept to life, with Burgundy Red, the hero color of the CAMON SLIM 5G, serving as the evening’s defining visual element.

All 15 runway looks incorporated burgundy as a common thread, but each interpretation was tailored to the woman wearing it.

Rather than opting for identical gowns or a traditional pageant-inspired aesthetic, the styling drew inspiration from modern Filipiniana. Structured silhouettes, translucent fabrics, fluid draping, pleats, and movement were used to translate each participant’s personality and story into fashion.

Some looks conveyed discipline and structure, while others featured softer layers that suggested transition, vulnerability, or freedom. Details inspired by individual careers, passions, family histories, and personal turning points further distinguished each ensemble.

The result was a cohesive runway presentation that maintained a shared visual identity without losing sight of the individuality at the heart of the experience.

A Launch Designed Like a Living Magazine

The editorial concept extended well beyond the runway itself.

From the moment guests arrived, the event was designed to feel like stepping into the pages of a fashion magazine rather than entering a conventional technology showcase.

The experience unfolded across several spaces, including the Arrival Salon, portrait displays, product experience areas, and the main editorial runway. Each zone revealed another layer of the overarching story, creating a connected journey through fashion, photography, personal narratives, and technology.

Even the arrival experience reflected the event’s fashion-forward direction. Modern Filipiniana elements and a hospitality-led atmosphere replaced the visual clutter often associated with traditional smartphone launches.

At the center of the experience, however, was the product that brought the concept together.

The TECNO CAMON SLIM 5G is the brand’s new ultra-slim imaging flagship for the Philippine market. It combines a 6.39mm ultra-slim body and a 6,000mAh battery with a 50MP Sony LYTIA™ 700C main camera, Super-Zoom FlashSnap, and TECNO Universal Tone imaging.

The idea was not to separate fashion from technology, but to demonstrate how closely the two are becoming connected in modern consumer lifestyles.

A smartphone is no longer simply a device people use. It is something they carry throughout the day, incorporate into their personal style, and rely on to capture the people, experiences, and moments that matter to them.

Through The Living Cover Runway, TECNO presented the CAMON SLIM 5G as part of that broader lifestyle conversation.

A First Glimpse at Angélica Dass and the Stories Beyond the Runway

The evening also offered a preview of another chapter in TECNO’s work with Filipino women through its collaboration with Angélica Dass, the artist and photographer.

Portraiture was woven into the launch experience as part of a wider exploration of women beyond the labels commonly used to define them. Within the event’s creative concept, the photographed women served as an emotional thread connecting individual portraits with the personal stories presented throughout the runway.

The Philippine chapter will take a closer look at working women, particularly working solo mothers and the people around them, through the lens of diskarte—the adaptability, wisdom, and resourcefulness women draw upon to find their own ways forward.

Rather than portraying these women solely through the challenges they face or the sacrifices they make, the project asks a more personal question: Who are they beyond the labels placed on them?

More details about TECNO’s collaboration with Angélica Dass are expected to be revealed later in October.

Making Technology Feel Closer to Real Life

At its heart, The Living Cover Runway reflects the audience TECNO wants the CAMON SLIM 5G to connect with: modern Filipino women whose lives cannot be defined by a single role.

The same woman may be a professional in the morning, a daughter or mother at home, a creator after work, and a friend in the evening—all while pursuing ambitions that belong entirely to her.

Rather than presenting one idealized version of the modern Filipina, TECNO brought different versions of her onto the same runway.

That may be the clearest expression of “Make It Lighter.”

It is not about pretending that life suddenly becomes simple. It is about creating technology, designs, and experiences that recognize how full everyday life already is—and finding thoughtful ways to fit into it.

With the CAMON SLIM 5G, TECNO brought that philosophy beyond the specification sheet and onto the runway, presenting the device not just as a new smartphone, but as part of the style, movement, and everyday experiences of the women it was designed for.

Because every woman carries her own story.

And every woman deserves to be the cover of it.
