The Rings of Power’s Highly Anticipated New Season Premieres November 11th on Prime Video

More than 6,500 fans were transported back to Middle-earth as Prime Video took over the iconic Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con to unveil the highly anticipated third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay were joined by cast members for an entertaining and insightful panel moderated by Benjamin Walker, who portrays High King Gil-galad in the series. The presentation thrilled fans with the debut of an all-new teaser trailer, exclusive revelations about Season Three, and several surprises.

Participating in the panel were Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman, and Season Three newcomer Jamie Campbell Bower, as they shared behind-the-scenes insights while unveiling exciting new details about the upcoming season.

A Darker Journey Begins

One of the panel’s biggest highlights was the premiere of a brand-new teaser trailer, offering fans their first glimpse at the darker and more intense direction of Season Three.

With Sauron’s quest to forge the One Ring now fully underway, his ambition to dominate all of Middle-earth threatens every kingdom in his path. As darkness spreads across the land, former rivals are forced into uneasy alliances in a desperate attempt to stop the Dark Lord before it is too late.

New Characters Join the Battle for Middle-earth

The Hall H presentation also revealed several new characters joining the expanding cast for Season Three.

Building on the previously announced casting earlier in the week—Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things) as Celeborn, Galadriel’s long-lost husband, and Zubin Varla (Andor) as Khamûl the Easterling of Rhûn—the panel introduced three additional characters:

• Eddie Marsan (Happy-Go-Lucky) as Thrain, the older brother of King Durin IV.
• Andrew Richardson (Guys & Dolls) as Anarion, the younger son of Elendil and brother of Isildur.
• Adam Young (Don’t Breathe 2) as Marnûkh, a mysterious Orc whose true nature may not be what it seems.

The Balrog Finds Its Voice

Another memorable reveal came during an exclusive Hall H featurette titled “Bringing Season Three’s Creatures to Life.”

The behind-the-scenes presentation showcased several legendary creatures appearing throughout the new season, including Fell-beasts, the mighty Mûmakil, fearsome Orcs, and the long-awaited return of the fiery Balrog.

For the first time in franchise history, the Balrog will speak—and fans were surprised to learn that the iconic creature is voiced by acclaimed actor Simon Pegg, known for The Cornetto Trilogy, Mission: Impossible, and Star Trek.

A Surprise Appearance from the Nazgnagôl

The excitement inside Hall H reached another level when the panel was dramatically interrupted by the unexpected arrival of four fully armoured Nazgnagôl, standing silently as they awaited Sauron’s command.

Making their debut in Season Three, the Nazgnagôl are Sauron’s ring-servants during the Second Age, serving as the predecessors of the infamous Nazgûl, or Ringwraiths, of the Third Age.

Season Three Premiere Schedule

The first four episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season Three will premiere on November 11, 2026.

Episodes 305 and 306 will debut on November 18, while the final two episodes of the season will stream on November 25.

Middle-earth Faces Its Greatest War

Season Three unfolds five years after the fall of Eregion, with Middle-earth engulfed in war.

Sauron’s armies have swept across the land, conquering nearly everything in their path. Only a handful of strongholds remain to resist the Dark Lord’s advance, including Khazad-dûm, where the Dwarves have sealed themselves deep within their mountain kingdom, and the Elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell, protected by the power of the Three Rings.

Meanwhile, deep within Mordor, Sauron labours tirelessly inside his newly completed fortress of Barad-dûr, consumed by his determination to forge the One Ring—a weapon capable of bringing the last of his enemies to their knees.

The Creative Team Behind the Epic

Season Three is led by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, alongside executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and executive producer-director Charlotte Brändström.

Matthew Penry-Davey serves as producer, while Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee join the production as co-producers.
