Pete Velasquez Jr. is an artist whose work profoundly captures the heart of Filipino nationalism. While the Philippines is rich in traditions, Velasquez highlights the enduring Filipino values of faith, family, and respect—elements that radiate powerfully in each of his pieces.

A Creative Journey Through the Years

An accomplished and passionate artist since the 1980s, Velasquez has mastered various mediums and garnered numerous accolades throughout his career. He has held several successful solo exhibitions and is an active member of key art groups such as the Angono Ateliers Association, the Filipino Portrait Artists Guild, and QArt Circle Philippines. Most recently, he was among the top contenders in the GSIS 2024 Abstract Art Competition.
An architect by profession but a true artist at heart, Velasquez is also an illustrator, printmaker, musician, photographer, devoted husband, and loving father. Constantly evolving, he remains committed to learning and exploring new forms of artistic expression—always with the goal of enriching his craft.
Evolving Style, Constant Spirit
Throughout his artistic journey, Velasquez’s style has undergone many transformations—from pen and ink to watercolor, acrylic, portraits, and abstract. Despite the shifts in medium and expression, his art remains deeply rooted in Filipino culture and heritage. Drawing inspiration from music, nature, emotion, and experience, his works are honest, soulful reflections of his inner world.

Velasquez’s approach is defined by creative freedom, emotional integrity, and a deep commitment to authenticity—qualities that have made him an inspiring figure among his peers and followers in the local art scene.
