The QCinema International Film Festival (QCinema) and the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) have officially announced a strategic partnership aimed at bolstering support for the country’s film industry programs and nurturing emerging talent.
The collaboration was formalized during a meeting between FAP Director-General Paolo Villaluna, QCinema Industry Head Liza Diño, QCinema Film Foundation President Manet Dayrit, and QCinema Artistic Director Ed Lejano, where both institutions shared a common vision for capacity-building and long-term growth within the Philippine film sector.
A key highlight of the partnership is FAP’s funding support for QCinema 2025, which will contribute to the festival’s programming and residency initiatives dedicated to honing the skills of the next generation of Filipino filmmakers.
“Given the growing influence of Philippine cinema on the global stage, it’s vital to champion initiatives that drive professional development and film education,” said Liza Diño. “For our filmmakers to thrive locally and internationally, we must invest in nurturing their craft and educational foundations — and this partnership with FAP is a powerful step toward that goal.”
The collaboration will also extend to one of QCinema Industry 2025’s flagship programs — the Asian Next Wave Film Forum (ANWFF). Here, Director-General Villaluna, alongside leaders from various Philippine film guilds, will take part in industry panels and roundtable discussions. These sessions will explore the evolving landscape of Philippine cinema, as well as regional collaboration across Southeast Asia.
As part of the ongoing partnership, FAP will host “FAP Night” on November 18, 2025, during QCinema. The event will spotlight FAP’s revitalized initiatives, including new programs from its affiliated guilds, while also celebrating the achievements of Filipino film professionals across disciplines.
The QCinema Industry 2025 runs from November 18 to 23, 2025, continuing its mission to serve as a platform for creativity, collaboration, and industry development.
