Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) continues to build momentum on its journey to the 20th Asian Games after the MLBB Asian Games Qualifiers (AGQ) set a new viewership record, becoming the most-watched esports tournament in Asian Games history by Hours Watched (HW).

According to Esports Charts, the tournament amassed an impressive 10.1 million Hours Watched, underscoring the game’s immense popularity as it prepares to make its official medal-event debut at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Japan.

Organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Asian Games is Asia’s premier multi-sport event. MLBB’s inclusion as an official medal event marks a historic milestone not only for the title but also for the continued recognition of esports within the global sporting landscape.

Record-Breaking Audience Reflects MLBB’s Global Reach

The record-setting performance highlights the growing influence of MLBB as one of the world’s leading esports titles.

Beyond topping the Asian Games esports rankings in Hours Watched, the qualifiers also peaked at more than 1.27 million concurrent viewers, making it the second most-watched esports tournament in Asian Games history by peak viewership.

“Becoming the most-watched esports tournament in Asian Games history by Hours Watched, while also ranking second by Peak Viewers with more than 1.27 million concurrent viewers, says a lot about where MLBB is today,” said Artyom Odintsov, Co-founder and CEO of Esports Charts.

“It’s already one of the titles that can reliably bring large audiences to major multi-title events, whether they’re esports festivals or traditional sporting competitions.”

Odintsov also emphasized the remarkable consistency of MLBB’s community, noting that fans actively follow teams and tournaments throughout the year—from domestic leagues in esports powerhouses like the Philippines and Indonesia to regional qualifiers and global championships.

“That kind of engagement is still relatively rare in esports and speaks to the long-term strength of the MLBB ecosystem,” he added.

A Decade of Global Growth

The achievement comes as MLBB Esports celebrates its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of remarkable growth from a Southeast Asian mobile gaming phenomenon into one of the world’s largest competitive esports ecosystems.

Today, MLBB connects millions of players, teams, and fans across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and other emerging esports markets.

Japan now represents another major milestone in that international expansion.

Following the game’s successful growth in the Middle East through the Esports World Cup (EWC), MLBB Esports is set to reach another historic first later this year when both the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI) make their debut in Paris, France—the franchise’s first major international tournament in Western Europe.

The global expansion will continue in 2027, when the M8 World Championship Finals head to Türkiye, further strengthening MLBB’s presence across Europe.

The Main Stage of the Asian Games 2026 will feature 12 national teams competing for the first-ever MLBB medals in the tournament’s history.
