Animal Spotlight - Seahorses KV

Animal Spotlight: Seahorses is an intimate behind-the-scenes programme that highlights native seahorses and Singapore’s marine biodiversity.

Dive deeper into Singapore’s rich marine life with a rare, up-close encounter at Singapore Oceanarium. The oceanarium’s latest immersive offering, Animal Spotlight: Seahorses, invites guests to explore the fascinating and often overlooked world of native seahorses through intimate, expert-led sessions.

Limited to just eight participants per group, each 45-minute experience is designed for meaningful engagement. Guided by animal care specialists, guests are taken through key habitats within the oceanarium before gaining exclusive access to the newly opened Seahorse Support Area—a behind-the-scenes space where conservation comes to life. Here, participants can observe feeding sessions firsthand and learn about the intricate care, breeding, and husbandry practices required to sustain these delicate species.

Seahorses may be small, but their biology is nothing short of extraordinary. From the rare phenomenon of male pregnancy to their precise hunting techniques, these creatures play a vital role in maintaining coastal ecosystems. However, they also face mounting threats, including habitat degradation, pollution, and bycatch from fishing activities. The program not only showcases their uniqueness but also highlights the urgent need for conservation.

Through this experience, visitors gain valuable insight into how Singapore Oceanarium contributes to regional conservation efforts—supporting seahorse monitoring initiatives and collaborating with partners across Southeast Asia to protect wild populations and their habitats.

Available daily, Animal Spotlight: Seahorses is priced at S$28 per participant (exclusive of general admission). Each session includes a commemorative lanyard and credential, making it both an educational and memorable keepsake experience.

This latest installment expands the oceanarium’s growing Animal Spotlight series, which continues to shine a light on marine biodiversity through curated, conservation-driven encounters. Previous editions have featured manta rays, corals, and sea jellies—each designed to deepen awareness and inspire stewardship of our oceans.
