In line with its mission to champion safer roads across the country, the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc. (MDPPA) recently staged two major road safety seminars, underscoring its enduring commitment to instilling responsible riding habits through education and community collaboration.
Road Safety for the Next Generation
On August 15, MDPPA partnered with Shigi Shigi Riders Club, Inc. to bring road safety education to young Filipinos at the Highway Hills Integrated High School in Mandaluyong City.
The seminar, which gathered 146 students from Grades 8 to 12, offered a comprehensive discussion on crucial topics: safe driving practices, personal and vehicle safety, pedestrian awareness, road courtesy, and understanding traffic signs and infrastructure.
“Teaching road safety at a young age is critical because it lays the foundation for responsible behavior on the road,” explained Richard Victoria, MDPPA Road Safety Advocate and Committee Secretary. “By shaping awareness early, we influence how students will eventually drive, ride, and walk—making caution, respect, and responsibility part of their everyday mindset.”
To reinforce the day’s lessons, a poster-making contest was also held, encouraging creativity while instilling key safety principles. The activity highlighted MDPPA’s goal of cultivating a new generation of road users who are conscious of their role in building safer communities.
Supporting the Riding Community
On August 24, MDPPA extended its road safety campaign to General Trias, Cavite, in celebration of Motorsiklo Xklusibo’s 2025 anniversary event, “Walang Mintis sa Disisais.”
This seminar catered to motorcycle enthusiasts and seasoned riders, focusing on real-world safety concerns such as the most overlooked traffic signs, safe navigation of intersections, and the critical importance of wearing proper helmets.
“Sometimes, it’s the little things we overlook that put us at risk,” Victoria pointed out. “Even veteran riders can miss traffic signs or forget safe intersection practices. By tackling these everyday issues, we make road safety relevant to both new and experienced riders.”
The event also celebrated the vibrant motorcycle community, with exclusive deals, brand showcases, test rides, and booths from major motorcycle manufacturers and dealers. Beyond education, it fostered camaraderie and shared responsibility among riders.
A Lifelong Advocacy
These latest seminars form part of MDPPA’s continuing effort to partner with stakeholders nationwide and to emphasize rider education as a cornerstone of road safety. For more than 50 years, the organization has been at the forefront of awareness campaigns, grassroots engagements, and education-based outreach.
As the country’s roads grow busier with motorcycles and new challenges—ranging from heavy traffic and distracted driving to climate-related hazards—the need for sustained education becomes more urgent. Through consistent training and advocacy, MDPPA ensures that safety is not just about compliance but about saving lives and empowering communities.
