SM Active Hub celebrates a milestone moment as it marks its first anniversary with an energizing pickleball roadshow across select SM Supermalls locations, bringing world-class talent and fast-growing sports action closer to Filipino communities.

Leading the tour is Canadian Pickleball National Champion Mackonner Dy, whose recent Philippine visit officially kicked off at SM City Marikina. The opening leg drew strong crowds and enthusiastic participation, underscoring the rising popularity of pickleball in the country.

At just 16 years old, Dy has already built an impressive competitive resume as a standout from The Nest Pickleball Academy in Tsawwassen, British Columbia. Known for his sharp hand speed at the kitchen line, advanced game intelligence, creative shot-making, and remarkable composure, he has quickly emerged as one of Canada’s most promising young athletes. His achievements include capturing the Canadian National Championship in the Singles Open Division, being drafted into the Canadian National Pickleball League with the Vancouver Owls, reaching the Round of 16 at the PPA Texas Open, and securing a gold medal at the PPA Hanoi.

The SM City Marikina stop was warmly supported by SM Supermalls representatives, the local mall team, Paloo PH, and a vibrant community of Filipino pickleball enthusiasts—showcasing a shared effort to grow the sport locally and build stronger grassroots engagement.

During the event, Dy highlighted pickleball’s unique appeal as an accessible, easy-to-learn, and highly social sport. He also praised the expanding number of dedicated playing spaces within SM malls, noting their role in encouraging more Filipinos—especially the youth—to stay active, develop skills, and strengthen both physical and mental well-being.

The roadshow reflects SM Active Hub’s broader mission of creating dynamic, movement-driven experiences that align with its vision of delivering “all for you” moments for mallgoers. The anniversary celebration continues to elevate community engagement by bringing international-level sports experiences directly to everyday spaces.

The pickleball roadshow featuring Mackonner Dy continues until April 12, 2026, with stops across multiple SM Supermalls branches, including SM Center Muntinlupa, SM Southmall, SM North EDSA, SM City Bicutan, and SM City Sta. Mesa.
Through this initiative, SM Active Hub strengthens its role in promoting active lifestyles while fueling the growing momentum of pickleball in the Philippines.
