Album drops August 8 | Lead single “Shelter of the Broken” launches today, Pride Day, June 28

After nearly four decades of touching hearts through timeless hits, iconic covers, and unforgettable live performances, Filipino music icon and cultural trailblazer Ice Seguerra is about to release the most defining work of his career.

Titled Being Ice, the 8-track original album marks a powerful new chapter for the artist, set to drop on August 8. Leading the release is the emotionally charged single “Shelter of the Broken,” available on all major streaming platforms beginning June 28—in celebration of Pride Day and Metro Manila’s largest LGBTQIA+ gathering.

Far from just a comeback, Being Ice is a milestone. It is the first full-length studio album released under Ice Seguerra, and more importantly, the first time he assumes complete authorship—emotionally, lyrically, and artistically.

“This is the most personal I’ve ever been,” Seguerra shares. “I’ve written songs in the past, but this is the first time I’m letting the world see every part of me—my fears, my hopes, my truths—all in one album.”

A Full-Circle Moment

Following the success of his sold-out Becoming Ice concert tour in 2022–2023, which explored themes of transition, identity, and legacy, Being Ice takes things even deeper. If Becoming Ice was about claiming space, then Being Ice is about living in it—fully and unapologetically.

Although Seguerra has released original singles in the past, this album is the first to reflect his complete identity—as an artist, as a storyteller, and as a transgender man.

“This isn’t just another album,” says Liza Diño, Fire & Ice Creative Producer. “It’s a legacy moment. After decades of giving voice to other people’s stories, Ice is now telling his own.”

A Collaboration Grounded in Truth

The album brings together some of the most respected names in OPM: Jonathan Manalo (the country’s most-streamed producer), Mike Villegas, Vince De Jesus, Trisha Denise, Ivan Lee Espinosa, and Diño herself—all contributing to a body of work rooted in healing, authenticity, and love.

Initially titled I Am Ice, the project evolved into Being Ice—a title that signals not just presence, but embodiment. As Diño puts it, “This is Ice fully stepping into who he is. Authentically. Vulnerably. Brilliantly.”

About the Album: Being Ice

Ten years in the making, Being Ice is an emotionally unfiltered, genre-fluid album chronicling Seguerra’s journey through depression, grief, healing, queer joy, self-love, and family. It’s his first original studio release since Araw Gabi (2015), and his most honest yet.

Tracklist:

  1. Shelter of the Broken – a survival anthem for mental health
  2. Ikaw Lang – long-distance love that endures
  3. Nandiyan Ka – quiet devotion from a father to his child
  4. Wag Na Lang Pala – friend zone blues in hugot-pop style
  5. Lost in Time – love hidden in fleeting moments
  6. Ikaw Pala ’Yon – a wedding vow reborn in song
  7. Natapos ang Lahat – love that lingers long after goodbye
  8. Anino – a bold, fearless coming-out anthem
  9. Bonus track TBA

Why June 28 Matters

The lead single, “Shelter of the Broken,” arrives on June 28, not just as a powerful opener but as a lifeline. Written during the pandemic while Seguerra was quietly battling depression, the song captures a raw and universal cry for peace.

“Free me from the demons in my head…” the chorus pleads—resonating with anyone who has struggled in silence.

For Ice, who publicly came out as transgender in 2014, the timing of the release aligns with his enduring commitment to visibility and representation. His journey—from child star to trans advocate to genre-defining artist—has always been grounded in truth through music.

Being Ice: Live in Concert

To celebrate the album, Being Ice: Live will take the stage on September 12 & 13 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. The two-night concert will showcase Seguerra’s greatest hits, musical influences, and the full live performance of the Being Ice album.

Structured into three acts—The Roots, The Fire, and The Truth—the concert promises to be both a retrospective and a revelation. Tickets are now available via TicketWorld.

A Cultural Milestone for OPM

Being Ice launches at a time when OPM is thriving with deeply personal and artist-owned projects. But few are as raw, fearless, and meaningful as Seguerra’s. It is an intimate triumph wrapped in universal emotion, and a queer cultural landmark in Filipino music.

For longtime fans, this is a long-awaited gift. For new listeners, it’s a striking invitation. And for Ice Seguerra, it’s the answer to a question he once quietly asked the world:

“Will you still love me if I stop hiding?”
