Leaving the girl group format behind to define her own musical identity.

The singer-songwriter officially kicked off her solo journey under Tarsier Records, offering listeners a deeply personal look into her artistry. Alexei originally entered the music scene as a member of the P-pop girl group YGIG before departing the lineup in 2025. Fans may also recognize her from her appearance in the music video for Maki’s hit song “Bughaw.”

“Girl of Your Dreams” serves as an anthem for self-acceptance. Written and co-produced by Alexei alongside Jameson Tenorio and BGYO’s Nate Porcalla, the track urges listeners to reject the pressure of fitting into someone else’s ideal mold and to fully celebrate who they are.

Reflecting on the release on social media, Alexei opened up about her career transition. She shared how her relentless pursuit of her musical goals initially caused her to lose sight of herself as she constantly strove to satisfy everyone else’s standards—a narrative she is now rewriting on her own terms.

“I started a journey towards my dream as an innocent, passionate young girl. I was confident that I would be resilient and strong enough. Well, little did I know, I started losing myself to be who people wanted me to be. I started chasing other people’s dreams. I have had enough of their expectations. I have had enough of their judgment. And I am done destroying myself to fit in,” she said.

Her musical journey originally began as a member of the P-pop girl group YGIG, which she departed in 2025. Outside of her group activities, she previously shared the screen with Kyler Chua and Zeke Abella in the music video for Maki’s hit track “Bughaw.” Now stepping into the spotlight alone, she is using her music to share an authentic, intimate side of herself with listeners.
