Globe Rewards Virtualahan help marginalized groups gain employment

Globe Rewards is giving its over 85 million subscribers the opportunity to uplift lives through their donation platform.

In partnership with Virtualahan, Globe customers can help marginalized groups access capacity-building courses and seek available jobs, start their own business even while at home.

Virtualahan is a pioneering and globally awarded virtual school that helps Persons with Disabilities develop skills and mindset to become competitive employees and entrepreneurs using the power of technology.

As unemployment surged due to the global health crisis, Virtualahan expanded its reach to train displaced workers, single parents, and out-of-school youth. The latest Labor Force Survey (LFS) released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed that as of July, 3.1 million Filipinos were unemployed compared to 2.3 million in 2019.

“Globe and Virtualahan share the same passion for achieving inclusive growth. Through our combined efforts in utilizing technology, we believe that we can drive positive change and create opportunities for all,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP for Corporate Communications.

Virtualahan’s advanced digital skills training covers data and automation, content marketing and communication, e-commerce management, social media marketing, graphics, web design, and basic web development.  Early this year, Globe provided connectivity support to 100 scholars of Virtualahan under its partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology on the DigitalJobsPH program.

Virtualahan beneficiaries not only receive skills training but also learn to become independent, achieve self-awareness, and grow their self-confidence. They are also provided employment support on skills alignment and apprenticeship as well as job coaching, shadowing, and matching.

“Globe Rewards creates a great opportunity for every Filipino to contribute to building a more inclusive Philippines. At Virtualahan, we continue to work hard to break down employment barriers for Persons with Disabilities and other excluded communities and every contribution counts,” said Ryan Gersava, Founder and President of Virtualahan.
