foodpanda is taking another step toward a more cashless and seamless delivery experience with the launch of QR-on-Delivery, a new payment feature that digitizes the traditional cash-on-delivery model.

The upgrade allows customers to pay for their orders upon arrival using any QRPH-supported bank or e-wallet, offering a secure and convenient digital alternative to handling physical cash.

A Smarter Way to Pay at the Doorstep

With QR-on-Delivery, customers can still choose to pay upon receipt—just without the cash. At the point of delivery, ka-Panda riders present a QR code, which customers can scan using banking apps or e-wallets such as GCash and Maya.

This approach mirrors a common consumer behavior in the Philippines: the preference to settle payment only after receiving an order, now made easier and safer through digital channels.

Beyond convenience, the system also helps streamline deliveries by reducing cash handling for riders, minimizing delays related to change preparation, and improving overall transaction efficiency.

Supporting the Shift to a Cash-Lite Economy

The rollout supports the broader direction of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) toward a cash-lite economy, where a significant share of retail transactions move to digital platforms. As the national QR standard, QRPH plays a key role in enabling interoperability across banks and e-wallet providers.

By extending QRPH into doorstep transactions, foodpanda is expanding real-world use cases for digital payments beyond traditional retail environments and into everyday lifestyle services.

Bringing Digital Payments Into Daily Life

“QR-on-Delivery allows us to bring digital payments closer to everyday transactions, particularly in moments where customers still prefer to pay upon receipt,” said Lhecks De Castro, Director of Finance of foodpanda Philippines. “By integrating QRPH into the delivery experience, we’re supporting the broader push toward a more cash-lite economy.”

As digital platforms continue shaping consumer behavior, integrating cashless options into familiar experiences like food delivery is helping accelerate adoption—making digital payments not just an option, but a natural part of daily life.
