Ely Buendia returns with a refreshing new single, “Ate,” set for release on March 26 under his own label, Offshore Music Philippines—marking the next chapter in his ever-evolving solo journey.

Following the critical success of his 2025 album Method Adaptor, which earned praise from Rolling Stone Philippines for its layered, metaphor-rich storytelling, Buendia shows no signs of slowing down. Instead, he pivots creatively with “Ate,” a track that embraces a lighter, more optimistic tone.
“I wanted to change the atmosphere a bit,” Buendia shared, describing the single as a deliberate contrast to the darker, more introspective mood of Method Adaptor. Built around a melody inspired by harmonized lead guitar lines climbing the major scale, “Ate” carries a soft, almost nursery rhyme-like quality—offering a sense of warmth and quiet optimism.
The shift isn’t just sonic—it’s also environmental. The track was recorded in Baguio, a change of scenery that played a key role in shaping its sound and spirit. “I needed a change of pace. I love the weather there,” Buendia noted, underscoring how the cooler climate and relaxed atmosphere helped bring a fresh perspective to the project.
“Ate” also marks Buendia’s first collaboration with producer Shadiel Chan of Nine Degrees North. The partnership introduced a new creative dynamic, with Buendia praising Chan’s instincts and fast-paced workflow. “I’m always up for working with new blood—there’s a lot you can learn from them,” he said.

That spirit of collaboration extends to the track’s lineup, featuring rising talents Dani Mendoza on keys and Jian Nisnisan on guitar, alongside Chan on bass and Pat Sarabia on drums—blending seasoned artistry with fresh energy.
With “Ate,” Buendia offers a gentle yet compelling reminder to find light in life’s ebb and flow—proving once again that even after decades in the industry, he continues to evolve, experiment, and surprise.
“Ate” will be available on all major digital streaming platforms starting March 26.
