Discovering Paradise: El Nido Resorts Miniloc Island Review

El Nido , Palawan, a tropical paradise that’s home to some of the most incredible islands in the world. Secret beaches, crystal clear lagoons, coral reefs, and tiny islands beckon, tempting you with their allure. While many remain uninhabited, a select few luxury resorts have claimed ownership of private islands. Reshaping the very concept of paradise.

El Nido Resorts is one of these – a group of four sustainable island resorts in Palawan that developers have designed to harmonize with the beautiful natural landscapes. Each island is unique, but one thing they all have in common is the awards they have won and best hotel lists they have graced since opening. We were lucky enough to spend a 4-day stay at Miniloc Island thanks to AyalaLand Inc.

The Miniloc Experience

Upon arrival at Miniloc Island, one immediately beholds the dramatic landscape. Towering limestone cliffs encircle a picturesque cove where the resort nestles. What struck me most about the resort was its subtle elegance – amidst such natural splendor, excessive luxury seemed unnecessary.

The cottages, with their thatched roofs and furnishings crafted from indigenous Filipino materials, exuded an authentic charm. Inside, wooden floors and walls adorned with woven bamboo slats, locally known as sawali, added to the rustic ambiance. Our accommodation, a cozy water cottage, though petite, offered an authentic experience. Perched on stilts, it afforded us a tranquil perch above the gently lapping waves below. This serenity allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the island’s tranquility, unwinding and savoring every moment of our first day.

Exploring El Nido’s Treasures

While the island is incredibly beautiful and a destination in itself, the best thing about Miniloc is how close it is to some of popular attractions in El Nido like the Big and Small Lagoons, and Snake Island.

Secret Exploration Tour

On our second day at Miniloc Island, we embarked on an exhilarating adventure by joining the “Secret Exploration” tour. This exclusive excursion took us to some of El Nido’s hidden gems. Starting with a visit to the enigmatic Secret Lagoon. Here, we had the opportunity to swim in the pristine waters surrounded by towering limestone cliffs. Following our refreshing dip, we made our way to Entalula Island for an unforgettable snorkeling experience.

As the afternoon sun began to cast its golden glow over the island, we set out for the big lagoon. Eager to explore its majestic waters by kayak. Gliding along the tranquil surface, we were treated to breathtaking view as far as the eye could see. Paddling through this picturesque landscape was a truly magical experience, offering us a unique perspective of the island’s natural beauty.

Day of Island Bliss Tour

On the third day of our stay, we embarked on the “Day of Island Bliss” tour. Our first stop was at the depths of Cudugnon Cave, a fascinating limestone cavern that offered a glimpse into Palawan’s rich geological history. Exploring the cave’s intricate rock formations was a thrilling experience.

Next stop was at Snake Island, where we spent the morning swimming in the crystal-clear waters and hiking along its pristine shores. As we trekked through the island’s lush interior, we were surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. Feeling a sense of serenity wash over us with each step.

After a morning filled with adventure, we returned to Miniloc Island for a well-deserved lunch at the resort’s beachfront restaurant. Indulging in a delicious meal of fresh local cuisine, we reflected on the incredible experiences we had shared and looked forward to the afternoon ahead.

In the afternoon, we set out once again, this time to explore the tranquil waters of the small lagoon. Kayaking through this hidden oasis, we were surrounded by the beauty of El Nido at every turn, feeling a sense of peace and tranquility wash over us as we soaked in the natural splendor of our surroundings. As the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the island, we knew that our time at Miniloc had been nothing short of magical, leaving us with memories to last a lifetime.

Culinary Delights

During your stay at Miniloc Island you will anticipate the delicious meals. Dining is an integral part of the vacation experience. With its all-inclusive package, the nightly room rate covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the resort’s beachfront restaurant. Where gourmet buffet-style dining awaits. Indulge in a feast of fresh local seafood, from succulent fish to plump shrimp, accompanied by a tantalizing array of side dishes and accompaniments.

The culinary offerings extend beyond seafood, with a variety of fresh fruits, flaky croissants, and a crepe station at dinner, as well as a stir-fry station at lunch, ensuring there’s something to satisfy every palate. While the selection of food is consistently commendable, there’s room for improvement in the dessert. Nevertheless, dining at Miniloc Island is not just about satisfying hunger; it’s an opportunity to savor the flavors of Palawan while basking in the scenic beauty of the resort’s beachfront setting, creating unforgettable dining experiences that enhance the overall enjoyment of your tropical getaway.
