Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation Resort officially welcomed the holiday season with its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on 11 November 2025 at the resort’s Mill Asian Restaurant foyer. This year’s festivities embraced the theme “Heritage Lustre”, celebrating the rich traditions, artistry, and vibrant culture of the Mansaka and Kagan tribes of Davao de Oro.
The evening came alive with a mesmerizing performance by the Golden Valley Mansaka Dancers from Mabini, Davao de Oro, followed by the soulful harmonies of the Huni Choir from Tagum City, spreading warmth and festive cheer throughout the resort. Guests joined the meaningful Stars of Hope initiative, purchasing symbolic stars to adorn the Christmas tree, with proceeds directly supporting the Mansaka and Kagan communities.
Hosted by Ms. Carly Chua, the ceremony honored craftsmanship, culture, and community. This year’s Christmas tree, exquisitely styled by Miss Annie Lim, reflected unity and heritage—its base adorned with handwoven mats crafted by Mansaka artisans and intricate leaf weavings by the resort’s housekeeping team, symbolizing collaboration at the heart of the celebration.
Tribal leaders present included Datu Carlos Bangasin and Datu Alan Samoing of the Kagan Tribe, and Matikadong Jonger Amontoc, Mansaka Chieftain of Golden Valley. They shared heartfelt messages, expressing gratitude for the resort’s ongoing support through the Stars of Hope program, which bridges guests and local communities in meaningful partnership.
The lighting ceremony was further graced by distinguished guests, including Mabini Mayor Emerson Luego, Councillor Vince Magpatoc, Davao de Oro Supervising Tourism Officer Christine Dompor, and Davao del Norte Vice Governor Clarice Jubahib, who joined the celebrations to officially mark the start of the island’s festive season.
