DOT Klook MOU Renewal Philippine Tourism Expansion

Renewed alliance to spotlight hidden gems across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao and bring thousands of local operators onto a global stage

The Department of Tourism (DOT) and Klook, Asia’s leading platform for experiences and travel services, have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), extending their collaboration into a multi-year strategic partnership aimed at strengthening and growing Philippine tourism.

The renewed partnership will harness Klook’s global marketing reach and extensive network of local tourism operators to generate greater travel demand through campaigns such as “Discover More to Love.” It will also focus on developing curated travel experiences and helping local tourism businesses embrace digitalization to reach more travelers.

“As we continue to expand our partnership with Klook, we are placing greater emphasis on the participation of our tourism stakeholders. We want to ensure that our experience providers, particularly MSMEs in the provinces, are equipped to participate meaningfully in the digital tourism ecosystem. By giving them access to platforms such as Klook, where their offerings can be made more visible and bookable, we can connect them more directly with travelers while making the booking process more seamless, convenient, and secure,” said DOT Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay.

“Our partnership with the DOT has been an incredible milestone for Klook, and we are thrilled to extend this across a multi-year period to elevate what we believe Philippine tourism can be,” said Klook Philippines General Manager Michelle Ho. “By supporting and empowering local merchants, we aren’t just making unique, authentic Filipino experiences more accessible, but are ultimately positioning the Philippines as a top-of-mind destination for travelers domestically and worldwide.”

Spotlighting Hidden Gems and Emerging Destinations

Under the renewed agreement, the DOT and Klook will work together on tourism initiatives designed to showcase the Philippines’ hidden gems and emerging destinations. The partnership will also support destination branding and tourism product development among local community operators and MSMEs through the DOT’s Regional Offices.

These efforts aim to give local tourism stakeholders greater opportunities to showcase their destinations and experiences while connecting them with a broader market of domestic and international travelers.

Accelerating Digital Adoption in Philippine Tourism

Building on Klook’s role in advancing digital adoption across Philippine tourism, the partnership will help local businesses reach more travelers while enabling them to develop and tailor their offerings around evolving travel needs, preferences, and interests.

Through digital platforms and stronger collaboration with local tourism stakeholders, the DOT and Klook seek to make Filipino travel experiences more accessible, visible, and convenient for travelers while creating new opportunities for tourism enterprises across the country.

“This renewed ambition is a testament to the success of our combined efforts, and we look forward to collaborating on even more initiatives to propel Philippine tourism forward,” Ho added.
