OPM giants December Avenue and powerhouse vocalist Morissette have joined forces for their long-awaited collaboration, “Ahon”—a moving anthem about love, longing, and the quiet strength of healing.
Released today, “Ahon” explores the emotions that lie just beneath the surface: a love that never truly faded, only buried by time and circumstance. “It’s a song about a love that never left—just hidden beneath the surface, waiting to rise again,” said December Avenue frontman Zel Bautista.

The poignant lyric, “Handa na ang puso kong malunod na sa piling mo, at muli ring aahon at magbabalik sa’yo,” perfectly captures the heartache, vulnerability, and hope intertwined in the song. Bautista noted that it reflects more than romantic longing—it’s also about rediscovering lost parts of yourself and navigating the unpredictable journey of emotional recovery.
For keyboardist Gelo Cruz, the line “Muli ring aahon at magbabalik sa’yo” holds personal meaning. “It reminds me why I continue doing this, even when things get hard. Every time we’re on stage and the crowd sings our songs back to us, I remember why I chose this path,” he shared.
The collaboration with Morissette came naturally. The band was immediately drawn to the emotional depth and vocal precision she brought to the demo. “There’s clarity in her voice, but there’s also a storm underneath,” Bautista explained. “That contrast shaped the whole arrangement. I built an intimate foundation to highlight the power of her soaring parts.”
Guitarist Jem Manuel recalled being surprised the first time he heard Morissette perform live. “Her voice hit way harder than I expected—it caught me off guard,” he said. Meanwhile, drummer Jet Danao revealed that Morissette was always their top choice. “Actually, when you say it’s Mori, it’s a done deal. She’s just that good,” he added.
With “Ahon,” December Avenue’s signature heartfelt lyricism meets Morissette’s unmatched vocal dynamism, delivering a soul-stirring track that speaks to love’s enduring power—and its ability to rise again.
