AirAsia Philippines Gears Up for NAIA T1 Transfer Ahead of Peak Season

Get ready for smoother international travel! AirAsia Philippines (Z2) and Malaysia AirAsia (AK) are moving all international flight operations from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 to Terminal 1, starting March 29, 2026—perfectly timed to handle the anticipated surge in travelers this Holy Week.

The terminal reassignment is part of New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation’s (NNIC) ongoing efforts to optimize airport operations, improve efficiency, and enhance the passenger experience across NAIA.

Starting March 29, all international flights for AirAsia Philippines—from check-in to boarding and baggage claim—will operate at NAIA Terminal 1. Guests can head straight to the designated check-in counters located in the Terminal 1 Departure Area.

“We’re excited about this transition, which is designed for our guests’ convenience,” said AirAsia Philippines CEO and President, Capt. Suresh Bangah. “With international flights moving to Terminal 1 and domestic flights at Terminal 2, connecting passengers can enjoy a faster, easier transfer experience. This shift also comes at a crucial time for Holy Week travel, ensuring we can support the surge efficiently.”

What Travelers Need to Know:

  • Flights before March 29, 2026: Continue at Terminal 3
  • Flights on or after March 29, 2026: Check-in and departure at Terminal 1
  • Arrivals from March 29 onwards: Land at Terminal 1
  • Domestic flights: Continue operations at Terminal 2

Inter-Terminal Transfers Made Easy

For passengers needing to move between terminals, NNIC provides a 24-hour free Inter-Terminal Shuttle Bus service connecting Terminals 1, 2, and 3, running every 15–30 minutes. Passengers must present a valid boarding pass or flight itinerary.

Additionally, a special shuttle service will operate every 15 minutes from 9:00 PM, March 28, 2026, to assist misrouted passengers:

  • Terminal 3 Pick-up: Bays 7 & 8 (Departure Area)
  • Terminal 1 Pick-up: Bays A12 & A14

Affected passengers have been notified via email and SMS. Travelers are encouraged to double-check their flight details and terminal assignments to ensure a smooth journey.

To provide a seamless experience, AirAsia Philippines has deployed extra manpower and 24/7 check-in counters at Terminal 1. Passengers are advised to arrive early and stay updated on their flight details.

With the “Big Switch,” AirAsia Philippines is partnering closely with airport authorities to deliver faster, easier, and more guest-friendly travel across NAIA.
