Driving the Future of Public Transport

Purpose-built for both performance and efficiency, the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i is powered by the brand’s advanced Super DM-i technology, delivering an electric-first driving experience with extended range and optimized fuel consumption.

The hybrid system is particularly well-suited for the challenging roads and mountainous terrain of La Trinidad and neighboring Cordillera provinces, where reliable performance and fuel efficiency are essential for daily transport operations.

By introducing the Sealion 5 DM-i into taxi service, HTSC aims to reduce operating costs for its drivers while offering passengers a quieter, smoother, and more comfortable commuting experience.

The deployment also supports the cooperative’s ongoing fleet modernization program, helping improve long-term operational efficiency while embracing cleaner transportation technologies.

Supporting Cleaner Mobility Across the Philippines

“At BYD Cars Philippines, we are focused on advancing clean energy solutions and supporting the transition toward more responsible and greener transportation,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines.

“The deployment of the first BYD Sealion 5 DM-i taxi fleet in the La Trinidad and Cordillera region highlights how it delivers an innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solution that performs well beyond city roads, supporting operators navigating the varied terrain of Benguet and surrounding areas.”

The launch demonstrates how electrified mobility solutions can extend beyond major urban centers, providing practical and sustainable transportation options for communities with more demanding road conditions.

A Milestone for Sustainable Transportation

As the country’s first taxi fleet powered by the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i, the deployment represents more than just a vehicle rollout—it signals a new chapter in the evolution of Philippine public transportation.

By combining advanced electrified technology, lower operating costs, and improved passenger comfort, the initiative showcases how modern mobility solutions can benefit both transport operators and commuters alike.

With projects like this, BYD Cars Philippines continues to strengthen its role in advancing electric mobility nationwide, supporting transport modernization while helping build a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable future for Filipino communities.
