Filipino consumers are embracing richer, more interactive digital conversations with brands, accelerating the country’s shift toward AI-powered customer engagement, according to global cloud communications platform Infobip.

The AI-first communications company has released its Messaging Trends Report 2026, revealing that businesses in the Philippines are rapidly expanding beyond traditional messaging channels as customers increasingly expect personalized, seamless, and conversational experiences.
The report is based on an analysis of 628 billion mobile interactions recorded in 2025 and a 20-year review of 3.8 trillion messages across Infobip’s global platform.
Digital Conversations Continue to Surge
In the Philippines, total customer interactions across the Infobip platform increased by 19% year-on-year, highlighting the growing demand for digital engagement.
Among the strongest performers were mobile messaging applications, which recorded an impressive 139% increase in interactions.
Viber maintained its position as the country’s leading business messaging platform, posting 47% growth, while WhatsApp emerged as one of the fastest-growing channels with a remarkable 1,416% increase, signaling its expanding role in customer communications.
Traditional messaging channels also remained relevant. SMS continued to be a dependable communication tool with 14% growth, while MMS and email recorded increases of 15% and 5%, respectively.
Meanwhile, interactions across other chat applications surged by 1,014%, reflecting how brands are increasingly diversifying their communication strategies to meet customers on the platforms they use most.
Businesses Move Beyond Traditional Messaging
“The Philippines has always been a mobile-first market, and what we’re seeing now is the next evolution of that,” said Guray Ozturk, Head of Customer Growth APAC at Infobip.
“Filipino consumers want to have conversations with brands. The data shows that businesses here are beginning to recognize this shift and are investing in AI-powered omnichannel engagement strategies that go well beyond traditional channels like SMS and email.”
Ozturk noted that Viber’s continued growth is particularly significant, emphasizing that businesses using the platform to deliver personalized, timely, and relevant customer interactions are seeing stronger engagement and long-term customer loyalty.
AI and Omnichannel Engagement Take Center Stage
Beyond messaging growth, the report highlights a broader transformation in customer communication.
According to Infobip, relying on a single communication channel is no longer enough for businesses seeking to remain competitive. Instead, organizations are adopting omnichannel strategies that integrate messaging apps, SMS, email, voice, and emerging technologies to create seamless customer journeys.
The report also points to the growing adoption of Rich Communication Services (RCS), which is gaining momentum as businesses look to deliver more interactive and branded messaging experiences.
At the center of this evolution is agentic AI—a new generation of artificial intelligence capable of independently managing complex, goal-driven customer interactions across multiple communication channels.
Introducing Infobip AgentOS
To support this shift, Infobip has launched AgentOS, a fully managed AI-native platform designed to help businesses automate and personalize customer engagement at scale.
AgentOS brings together AI agents, customer data, communication channels, and user intent into a single intelligent ecosystem that determines the most effective next step in every interaction.
Built on Infobip’s omnichannel infrastructure, the platform enables AI agents to operate autonomously across SMS, RCS, email, WhatsApp, voice, and other channels while continuously adapting message content, timing, and communication methods based on real-time customer behavior and context.
For Philippine enterprises, the platform offers new opportunities to deliver highly personalized customer experiences that were previously difficult to achieve.
The Next Competitive Advantage
According to Infobip, the companies that will lead in 2026 will not simply be those that adopted artificial intelligence early, but those that successfully integrate AI throughout the entire customer lifecycle—from acquisition and engagement to service and long-term loyalty.
As Filipino consumers increasingly favor conversational and personalized digital experiences, businesses that embrace AI-powered omnichannel engagement are expected to gain a significant competitive advantage in the years ahead.
