Century Tuna, the Philippines’ No. 1 tuna brand, continues to make waves for marine protection as it marks the third year of its award-winning “Saving Our Seas” campaign—an initiative that champions cleaner, healthier oceans through the power of community and sustainability.

In 2025, the campaign reaches a major milestone, expanding to six key coastal sites nationwide—Manila, Batangas, Subic, Davao, Zamboanga, and General Santos City—driving stronger action toward a plastic circular economy and long-term marine conservation.
A Movement Fueled by Purpose and Participation
The campaign gained powerful momentum early this year during the fan meet of brand ambassador Park Seo Joon, where fans from across the Philippines contributed plastic bottles in support of the cause. Building on this inspiring show of unity, Century Tuna is taking “Saving Our Seas” nationwide, rallying local communities, volunteers, and partners to protect marine life and keep the oceans plastic-free.
To commemorate International Coastal Cleanup Day, the brand raised the bar even higher—mobilizing more people, more partners, and more passion for the planet.

From what began as a single coastal cleanup in Batangas in 2023, “Saving Our Seas” has grown into a nationwide environmental movement, with over 8,200 volunteers—a massive leap from just 205 last year. Participants included local government units, Porto Novo, The Asri and Pier Uno group of divers, the Philippine Marine Corps, Century Tuna Superbods, employees of Century Pacific Food Inc. (CPFI), and other like-minded advocates.

Turning Plastic into Purpose
“Our product comes from the sea, and without healthy oceans, we have nothing,” said Mr. Carlo Endaya, Vice President and General Manager of CPFI’s Branded Tuna Division.
“This isn’t just about a one-day cleanup—it’s about creating something sustainable through Aling Tindera and the plastic circular economy. Every plastic collected can be turned into livelihood opportunities while keeping it out of the ocean.”

With this mission in mind, the campaign targets a 33% increase in plastic collection this year—powered by strong partnerships and community collaboration.
From its roots with HOPE’s Aling Tindera waste-to-cash program, Century Tuna’s initiative continues to grow with more organizations joining hands to promote sustainability and protect the country’s waters.
“We’re truly grateful to Century Tuna, one of our biggest supporters,” shared Ms. Caroline Beloso, Field Coordinator of Friends of HOPE Inc. in Mabini, Batangas. “With 29 sites across Mabini, from resorts to local communities, this partnership makes a real difference for our people and our environment.”

Growing Impact, Growing Partnerships
Century Tuna also extended its reach by partnering with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Public Services of Manila, and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), alongside corporate allies such as Shakey’s, Vita Coco, Beach Hut, and Peri-Peri.

Together, these efforts yielded 1,386 kilograms of plastic waste collected—a remarkable increase from last year’s 357 kilograms.
In just three years, Saving Our Seas has already removed over 100 metric tons of waste from Philippine waters—transforming from one coastal site to six, and from a simple cleanup into a nationwide sustainability movement.
“This is about more than cleaning beaches,” said Mr. Ray Guinoo, CPFI’s Assistant Vice President and Marketing Director for Local Tuna Operations.
“It’s about building communities, creating livelihoods, and working together for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future. With everyone’s commitment, this will be our most impactful International Coastal Cleanup yet.”

A Legacy of Action for the Future
Launched in 2023, Century Tuna’s “Saving Our Seas” campaign shines a light on the urgent issue of plastic pollution and its effects on marine biodiversity. Through its coastal and reef cleanup activities, community partnerships, and environmental education programs, the campaign continues to inspire Filipinos to take part in protecting the planet—one piece of plastic at a time.
