New Lenovo Research Shows How AI-Powered Defenses Help Enterprises Turn Cyber Risk into Cyber Resilience

Lenovo’s latest research exposes a critical vulnerability in enterprise cybersecurity: 65% of IT leaders admit their current defenses are outdated and unable to withstand AI-powered attacks, while only 31% feel confident in defending against them. These insights come from Lenovo’s third Work Reborn report, Reinforcing the Modern Workplace, highlighting how AI—while driving efficiency and business growth—is also fueling a new wave of sophisticated cyber threats.

AI Threats Are Evolving Faster Than Traditional Defenses

Generative AI has transformed cybercrime, enabling attacks that are hyper-agile, convincing, and adaptive. Modern threats can mimic legitimate behavior, mutate to avoid detection, and target multiple domains from cloud services to endpoints, applications, and data repositories. Key risks identified in the report include:

  • AI-Powered External Threats: Polymorphic malware, AI-driven phishing, and deepfake impersonation.
  • Insider Risks: 70% of IT leaders see employee misuse of AI as a major risk, while over 60% say AI agents create a new class of insider threat.
  • AI Protection: Models, training data, and prompts are high-value targets requiring robust defense against manipulation.

“AI has changed the balance of power in cybersecurity. To keep up, organizations need intelligence that adapts as fast as the threats. That means fighting AI with AI,” said Rakshit Ghura, Vice President & General Manager, Lenovo Digital Workplace Solutions.

Lenovo’s AI-Native Approach to Cybersecurity

Conventional defenses are no longer sufficient. Lenovo is leading with AI-native solutions designed to detect threats early, adapt in real time, and scale across the modern workplace. Its end-to-end approach includes embedding intelligence into endpoints, delivering unified protection from edge to cloud, and enabling proactive defense against evolving threats.

Industry analysts reinforce this urgency. Gartner® predicts that by 2027, 90% of successful AI implementations in cybersecurity will be tactical, focused on task automation and process augmentation rather than replacing roles. McKinsey warns that enterprises relying solely on traditional defenses risk falling behind as AI reshapes both threats and protective strategies.

From Reactive to Resilient

Lenovo’s Gen-AI-driven platform, Care of One™, along with ThinkShield and Lenovo Security Services, empowers organizations to embed AI into defenses across endpoints, data, applications, and employees. Lenovo Cyber Resiliency as a Service (CRaaS) provides managed monitoring, detection, and response, achieving early results with 99.5% threat detection, under-30-minute response times, and over 20% cost savings in the first year.

Recognized Leadership in Cybersecurity

Lenovo’s cybersecurity efforts have been recognized at the 2025 Fortress Cybersecurity Awards:

  • Cybersecurity Leaders: Nima Baiati for Zero Trust Architecture
  • Supply Chain: ThinkShield Supply Chain Assurance, protecting device integrity at scale
  • Leading Products & Services: CRaaS in the Cloud Security category

Lenovo ThinkSystem x86 servers have also ranked #1 in uptime among all x86 platforms for 11 consecutive years, according to ITIC’s 2024 Global Server Hardware, Server OS Reliability Report.

AI Security as a Growth Engine

Beyond protection, AI-driven cybersecurity enables growth, productivity, and digital workplace innovation. “With AI tools proliferating beyond IT’s visibility and attackers exploiting gaps traditional systems can’t recognize, Lenovo is delivering the AI-powered defenses enterprises need to close the gap,” Ghura concluded.

As AI becomes integral to business, Lenovo is committed to building workplaces that are protected, intelligent, and adaptive—ready to meet the evolving demands of the modern enterprise.
