Canon Philippines has officially launched a new wave of video-centric cameras, introducing the EOS R50 V, PowerShot V1, and PowerShot V10—three innovative models that mark the beginning of the brand’s new EOS / PowerShot V Series. Tailored specifically for video content creation, these cameras are designed to meet the needs of today’s digital storytellers, offering a compelling alternative to smartphone shooting by combining portability with powerful, creator-focused features.

The launch event took place at Midnight Dream Studios in Glorietta 1, drawing more than a hundred media guests, influencers, and content creators. Attendees such as Farrah Espina, Liana of Art and Plan Studio, Karl Patacsil, Jo Escultura, and Gab Altonaga experienced the cameras in action across seven interactive stations focused on popular content formats like livestreaming, podcasting, GRWM (get ready with me), unboxing, food vlogging, lifestyle shoots, and video editing. The event highlighted how deeply video-first platforms like TikTok have reshaped the landscape of content creation, with creators now seeking tools that offer more flexibility and control than smartphones can provide.

Canon recognized this shift and saw a clear opportunity to empower Filipino creators with compact, user-friendly gear that doesn’t compromise on quality. Jian Liu, Canon Philippines Director for Consumer Information and Imaging, emphasized the company’s vision: “Filipino creators have a strong enthusiasm for capturing life’s moments and producing engaging video content. With the EOS R50 V and PowerShot V1, they can enjoy a blend of portability, intuitive controls, and high-end performance. Whether they’re vlogging, livestreaming, or making short films, Filipinos can now tell their stories more powerfully, thanks to the reliability and innovation Canon is known for.”

Leading the lineup is the EOS R50 V, a camera equipped with a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor—similar to those found in professional Super 35mm cinema cameras. It brings a suite of advanced features typically reserved for higher-end systems, including Cinema EOS-inspired Custom Picture settings, built-in LUT support, HDR recording, and 4K 60p livestreaming via USB-C. Audio quality is also elevated, thanks to a new 3-mic noise reduction system. The R50 V has a compact, streamlined body with no viewfinder, making it ideal for handheld shooting, gimbal setups, and vertical video—perfectly suited to social media content. It pairs seamlessly with Canon’s new RF-S14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens, the brand’s first with integrated power zoom and 15 adjustable zoom speeds for cinematic camera movements.

Alongside the R50 V, Canon also debuted the PowerShot V1, its first truly video-focused compact camera. This model features a large 1.4-inch sensor and a built-in zoom lens with a 16–50mm equivalent focal range, offering excellent versatility for run-and-gun shooting. It includes a 3-stop ND filter for exposure control in bright environments, Subject Tracking IS for stable, sharp footage, and an internal cooling fan that enables extended continuous recording of up to six hours—features that are rarely found in compact bodies of this size.

With these new releases, Canon signals a clear shift toward supporting the growing community of video-first creators. By combining professional-grade capabilities with simplicity and portability, the EOS R50 V and PowerShot V Series aim to redefine what content creators can expect from a compact camera.
