Sony has officially launched the RX1R III, the highly anticipated third generation of its premium compact RX1R series. This latest model raises the bar with a 61MP full-frame Exmor R™ CMOS sensor, the powerful BIONZ XR™ image processor, and a ZEISS® Sonnar T 35mm F2 fixed lens*—all packed in a sleek, portable body.
Unmatched Image Quality in a Pocket-Sized Frame
The RX1R III delivers stunning high-resolution stills and low-light performance, thanks to its back-illuminated sensor and advanced image processor. With AR (Anti-Reflection) coating and no optical low-pass filter, it captures incredibly sharp, detailed, and vibrant images across a wide dynamic range.
Engineered with precision at the micron level, the built-in ZEISS lens ensures crystal-clear optical performance. This perfect fusion of sensor and lens design results in professional-quality shots, without the bulk of a traditional camera setup.
Creative Freedom with AI Intelligence
The RX1R III features Sony’s next-gen AI processing unit, enabling real-time subject recognition—even when the subject’s face is turned away. With 693 phase-detection AF points covering about 78% of the image area, tracking fast-moving or unpredictable subjects has never been easier.
Photographers can also enjoy Step Crop Shooting, offering focal length options of 35mm, 50mm, and 70mm—all from the same lens. In RAW format, users can even switch focal lengths during post-production. A dedicated macro ring allows close-up shooting at just 20cm, with a max magnification of 0.26x.
For content creators, the camera features 12 built-in Creative Looks, including nostalgic FL2 tones and vibrant FL3 profiles. These presets are fully adjustable and can be used for both stills and video, unlocking a world of artistic possibilities.
Sleek Design with Powerful Hardware
Crafted from lightweight magnesium alloy, the RX1R III is built to withstand rigorous use while maintaining an elegant, minimalist form. Its embedded dials and flat-top body enhance usability and portability, while the ergonomic grip ensures comfortable handling.
An XGA OLED electronic viewfinder with 2.36 million dots and 0.70x magnification offers a bright, clear view for accurate composition. Power is handled by a rechargeable NP-FW50 battery, capable of shooting up to 300 images, and the USB-C port with Power Delivery support allows for fast charging and extended sessions using power banks or compatible devices.
Designed for the Future
Aligned with Sony’s Road to Zero sustainability initiative, the RX1R III is manufactured using 100% renewable energy at its imaging product facilities. The packaging is also eco-conscious, made from Sony’s proprietary Original Blended Material instead of plastic.
