Veteran media executive and award-winning actress Charo Santos-Concio was recently honored with the Parangal ng Sining Lifetime Achievement Award by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) for her exceptional contributions to Philippine cinema.

The former ABS-CBN president and CEO was celebrated for her unwavering dedication to the craft and for championing the power of storytelling. The FDCP praised Charo as a figure of excellence, integrity, and innovation whose work continues to inspire both emerging and seasoned filmmakers.
In a tribute post, the FDCP reflected on her illustrious career:
“Her remarkable journey—from a celebrated actress to a pioneering producer and transformative media executive—has redefined storytelling and elevated Filipino cinema to new heights. Her legacy continues to empower generations of filmmakers and audiences, both in the Philippines and around the world.”
The award was presented by Laurenti Dyogi, ABS-CBN Entertainment Production and Star Magic head.
Charo began her journey with ABS-CBN in 1987 and made history in 2008 when she became the network’s president. Over the years, she has earned numerous accolades, including:
- FAMAS Lifetime Achievement Award (2019)
- Gold Stevie Award for Female Executive of the Year in Asia (2014)
- Asia Pacific Stevie Award for Woman of the Year (2014)
- ContentAsia’s Asian Media Woman of the Year (2014)
- KBP Golden Dove Lifetime Achievement Award (2013)
Her iconic drama anthology series, “MMK,” is set to make its return on April 24, with its comeback episode telling the inspiring life story of Sofronio Vasquez, “Tawag ng Tanghalan” finalist and the recently crowned winner of “The Voice USA” Season 26.
The FDCP serves as the government agency responsible for implementing policies that support the growth, development, and international recognition of the Philippine film industry.
